Dizzy Gillespie was born in Cheraw, South Carolina in 1917. ‘Dizzy’ was his nickname his government name was John Birks Gillespie. Dizzy had a huge love for jazz.
He soon will be one of the most famous jazz musicians of all time. Gillespie was a trumpet virtuoso and improviser. His mother and father names were Lottie Gillespie and James Gillespie.
Dizzy was the only child. Dizzy’s trumpet was different from the modern day trumpet. He attended Benjamin Franklin High School in New York City. Dizzy started playing the trumpet at a young age. He was about 10 years old.Slide3

The start of Dizzy’s life was a decent and well living life he had a passion for trumpet jazz. Born on October 21, 1917he lived to get married to Lorraine Willis.
Dizzy’s time had come when he was 75 years old when he died. January, 6, 1993. His wife died in 2004. She was married to him ‘til he died.
