Gjensidige to acquire Gouda Travel Insurance Gjensidige Forsikring ASA is acquiring Gouda Travel Insurance from the Dutch company Goudse Schadeverzekeringen N.V. Gouda Travel Insurance offers travel insurance to private individuals and enterprises, including expat employees. Gouda’s business in the Nordic countries recorded earned premiums of EUR 38.5 million (approx. NOK/DKK 290 million) in 2012. They also have operations outside the Nordic region that are not included in the transactio n. - The acquisition of Gouda Travel Insurance gives Gjensidige valuable expertise in an attractive and growing market segment. We are particularly pleased about strengthening our position in the corporate market and in relation to travel agents, says Kim Rud - Petersen, who is Executive Vice President of Gjensidige's Nordic division. Gouda Travel Insurance has 148 employees across three offices in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The company is profitable, and there are possibilities for synergies with Gjensidig e's operations. The business will be part of Gjensidige's Nordic division, which is managed from Denmark. - We are constantly seeking profitable growth in the Nordic region, and we are convinced that this acquisition will strengthen both Gjensidige and Go uda Travel Insurance, says Kim Rud - Petersen. Jesper Kjeldsgaard, CEO of Gouda Travel Insurance, is pleased that it is Gjensidige that is acquiring Gouda. - We have grown strongly in recent years, and Gjensidige has taken note of the quality of the service we provide to our customers. This acquisition is an acknowledgement of our company and it will give us the strength we need to grow further, says Kjeldsgaard. The transaction is contingent, among other things, on approval from the relevant authorities, w hich is expected to be granted later this year.
