Rules for Adjectives: 1. An adjective like ugly can be relative: Positive Comparative Superlative Ugly uglier ugliest Mean Meaner Meanest A) When comparing only one thing to another My dog is uglier than your dog. B) When comparing more than two things My dog is the ugliest dog on earth. 2. You should not add - er or - est to some adjectives. * Your dog is more beautiful than my dog. * That is the most unbelievable thing I have ever he ard. 3. Some adjectives are absolute: Absolute basic certain Complete empty entire Devoid excellent fatal Final Dead perfect Square Essential Unique Full Harmless Immortal Meaningless Obvious Pure Superior Ultimate Universal 4. If you can count individually that use: fewer, many. If you can't count individually than use: less, a lot of, much.
