All members of the W14 group lineage have single mutation on codon 43 of the rpsL target gene associated with high levels of streptomycin resistance (STRR). Note that isoniazid-resistant (INHR) W23 and W14 branches have a distinct katG mutation. The W23 katG substitution on codon 315 is found on the same codon as in the W-MDR index strain but involves a different nucleotide; the W14 katG insertion on codon 283 has not been previously reported.
