Process of ExaminationLevel 1Short answer responsesExamination will be revised to a multiple choice format in the fall of 2016This is a challenge exam-can be written without having completed the Level 1 course Can only be challenged once-unsuccessful attempt then requires the completion of the Level 1 coursePass is 60%

4. Process of ExaminationLevel 2/3 ExaminationsMultiple Choice format60 questions2 hour durationCompleted during the afternoon of the final day of each individual coursePass rate 60%

Process of ExaminationAn Interactive Case Examination will be completed on all courses Level 2-5This is a two phase assessment-subjective and objectiveThese will be completed on subsequent weekends of the courseStudents must complete the case booklet prior to the start of the course weekendCase booklets and guidelines are available on the orthodived.com siteStudent attendance and participation is required for successful completion of the courseArrangements will be required if this component is not met during the scheduled course hours

Examination ResultsThe Level 2/3 examinations are marked at a central locationResults are typically available 2-4 weeks following completionStudents must achieve a minimum of 60% on each of the MCQ and interactive caseStudents who do not achieve this minimum will be required to re-write the associated examinationA second unsuccessful attempt will require the student to re-take the course

17. Intermediate Practical Examination2 hour practical examination covering all content from levels 1-3 upper and lower quadrantConsists of 4 stations, 25 minutes eachTypically, one examination site in the west and one in the east in the spring of each yearApplication is available on-line through the Orthopaedic Division web-siteOpens on a specified date-check the web site

18. Intermediate Practical ExaminationThis is not a challenge exam i.e. you must have completed all courses 1-3 prior to registrationIn addition, you must have completed 90 mentorship hours55 direct supervision hours35 indirect peer mentorship sessions

19. Level 4 and 5Level 4/5 Clinical ManualAll content from Levels 1-3There is no MCQ examinations associated with the Level 4 and 5 coursesThere is an interactive case completed on each of these coursesStudent participation is expected but not evaluated

Advanced Examination3 hour MCQ Examination-120 questions3 hour Case Examination-per the guidelines available on the orthodived siteThe MCQ and Case Examinations are completed typically on the third Saturday in September across the country2 hour practical examination in the fall of each yearTypically, one site in the west and the eastRegistration information available on the Orthopaedic Division web-site

21. Advanced ExaminationThis is not a challenge examination-you must have completed all associated course levels (1-5) and the Intermediate Practical Examination prior to registrationIn addition, you must have completed 60 mentorship hours30 hours under direct supervision30 indirect hours with peer mentorsMust also complete a supervised clinical assessment and present this at the advanced practical examinationFor those registering in the system at Level 1 after January 2014 there is a further requirement to complete an on-line critical appraisal course (information available on the orthodived.com site)
