4. PASSPORT ALERT:I still have TWO people who have not confirmed their name and passport in their accounts. This needs to be done ASAP. The airline will not let you fly if your name on your ticket and the passport do not match.

BUSDepart: June 22WE WILL MEET AT 7:30 am (to get everyone situated)We will leave the student parking lot of Westside High School at 8:00 am on June 22 – DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR AT WHSBe prepared to eat lunch at the airport – bring extra money (US dollars) for thisReturn: July 2Our flight will land at around 8:45 pm (possibly later depending on traffic and flights) Bus will pick us up at 9:30 pm from airportWe will return to WHS probably between 11:40 and midnightPlease remember to have phones ready for your child to call when arriving back at WHSPlease remember that due to flight delays, etc, we may or may not return on time.

Day of Departure from ATLWe arrive at airport and remove our bags (quickly) from the busWe stay together and enter together and I will show you how to check inWe will go through security You will remove your liquids, your medication, and take off your shoes (wear easy to remove shoes)You will push your items onto a conveyer belt and through a video image detectorYou will walk through a metal detector or stand in a “whirly detector” TSA will probably pat down your hair if you have it up or have braids/plaits/rows of any kindYour items will be returned to you and we will continue to our gate to eatWe will have a quick meeting together at our gateWe will eat (need US dollars for this)We will load on our plane about 30-45 min before it leavesPut your carry-on in the overhead bin, put your book bag below the seat in front of you, help the girls get their luggage above their seatsSit in your assigned seats, then we will departBring gum if you fear your ears will pop WE WILL SLEEP OVER NIGHT ON THE PLANEWe will arrive the next morning and immediately go on tour

Airport Etiquette Do not draw attention to yourself, act normalDo not mention weapons or bombs for any reasonDo not pack any type of weapon (no pocket knives)Do not wear a belt or shoes that are difficult to removeDo not wear underwear with reflectors/metallic words Some of these have traces of metal and will cause you to set off the alarms…and you will be searchedDo not catch an attitude with a TSA agent, just listen to them and do what they sayDo not leave any bags unattended at any timeHave your items ready for quick removal (both your luggage and your passport)We NEVER travel anywhere in groups any smaller than FOUR

18. ARRIVAL We’ll meet our Tour Director once we have cleared customs and claimed our baggage.We’ll start tour immediately and check in to our hotel until the end of the day.Staying awake throughout our arrival day is the best way to beat jet lag.

Breakfast typically includes cereal, bread, juice, coffee and tea.Lunch is on our own.Dinners will be a mix of local cuisine and familiar dishes served as a preset meal for our group, rather than chosen from a menu.Food portions are smaller than they are in the U.S.Table water is included; other beverages will be of additional costs.Bottled water is included in countries where it is deemed necessary.Please inform us of any allergies – IF I AM NOT ALLOWED TO GIVE YOUR CHILD A BENADRYL IN CASE OF AN UNKNOWN ALLERGIC REACTION, PLEASE LET ME KNOWMEALS

TYPICAL DAY:Morning:Breakfast at hotelWe will leave the hotel between 6:00 am and 8:00 amWe will tour until lunchAfternoon:We will eat lunch (need money for this) then tour again with our guide or have “free time” to tour on our own in the cityEvening:We will eat dinner with our guide at around 5 or 6 pm (usually)*Sometimes there are extra opportunities to take special/extra tours with our guide (this costs extra money)We will return to our hotel, usually around 8 pmAfter we return to our hotel, I will take you back out to the area around our hotel for “Second Dinner”, shopping, hiking, etc – depends on what is in the area (might need spending money)This is optional, otherwise you can stay in your room at the hotel

21. Generally, hotel rooms are smaller than in the U.S.Most hotels will not have air conditioning or elevators.Wi-Fi will not always be available, and when it is there may be a fee.Late check-ins may be necessary.HOTELS

22. Students are roomed 3-4 per room in a combination of twin and shared double beds.Adults will share twin rooms with other adults, unless other arrangements have been made prior to tour.Students may be roomed with EF travelers from different schools.ROOMING
