The breakfast briefing will feature short presentations by the Latino Policy Forum, the Illinois Latino Family Commission, and the Illinois Association of Hispanic State Employees on issues that are salient to Latino children, families, and workers throughout the state. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for Members to ask questions and speak freely about the local dynamics they are encountering b ack home. As a result of Latino population growth, there are now 53 districts (House and Senate combined) where Latinos account for 15% or more of the district’s population. The Latino Caucus hopes that this briefing will serve as the starting point for more intentional outreach, collaboration, and support between Latino - elected officials and those serving districts with a large Latino constituency. As the largest growing segment of Illinois’ student population, workforce, and voting bloc, it is incumbent upon us to work collectively to promote policies and investments that foster greater academic achievement, economic mobility, and civic engagement. To RSVP for the breakfast briefing, pl ease have your assistant contact Rosa Or a ma, Sen. Martinez’ assistant, at 782 - 8191, or Mary Anderson, Rep. Soto’s assistant, at 78 2 - 0150 by Monday, April 29 . Yours respectfully, Sen. Iris Martinez Rep. Cynthia Soto Co - Chair, Latino Caucus Co - Chair, Latino Caucus
