Requirements:

You lost your job through no fault of your own

(ex. Layoff)

You have earned at least $2,250

($1,500 during one of the calendar quarters, and at least $750 during the remainder of the year) during your base period

AND

your total base period wages are at least 1.5 times your highest quarter of wages

OR

you earned at least $18,000 during two of the four quarters of the base period

If you are cleared for payment the earliest payment will be made within 18 – 22 days of filing your initial claim or renewing your existing claim

Benefit payments are made on a weekly basis for each week you qualify for payment

While attending school, you are not required to submit a work search record.

Wrap Up

The Internet is available 24/7 for filing or renewing your claim, filing your weekly requests for payments, or finding out the status of your claim.

The Interactive Voice Response system (IVR) is available 24/7 for making automated inquiries about your claim.  The IVR is available from 12:00 a.m. Wednesday morning through 11:59 p.m. Saturday evening for filing weekly requests for payment.

Call between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, to file a new or renewed claim or to speak with a claims representative.

Trade Adjustment Assistance

Reauthorization Act (TAARA) of 2015

Trade Act is a federal program administered by United States Department of Labor (USDOL) that provides assistance to U.S. workers who lost their jobs due to foreign trade.

Two Parts of Trade Act

Trade Readjustment Allowance (TRA):

Refers to the weekly benefits paid by DES.

TRA is similar to Unemployment Insurance (UI).

TRA is only for Trade Act eligible worker who meet specific requirements.

Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA):

Refers to training and reemployment services provided by DWD.

Earnings Disregard

In Missouri, a client that draws TRA and participates in full-time TAA training may earn up to 120% of his/her TRA weekly benefit amount before earnings will be deducted

Example:

TRA amount is $320 per week

120% of $320 is $384

The client may earn $384 before TRA will deduct

⎯ Participants who qualify for weekly payments under the Unemployment Insurance program are only allowed a 20% earnings disregard. In the same example, the earnings disregard would be $64.

Reemployment Trade Adjustment Assistance (RTAA)

A wage subsidy program for workers aged 50 or older who find qualifying reemployment

May participate in part-time reemployment (20 hours)

full-time reemployment (Trade approved training optional)
