Authority/ ReferenceBusiness and Professions Code, Division 5, sections 12027, 12722, 12723, and 12735; California Code of Regulations Title 4, Division 9, sections 4402, 4420 – 4423, and 4450 tablishing a Predetermined Individual TareThe following items are necessary to establish a predetermined individual tareweight:Licensed weighmasterCounty ealed cale(verify zeroloadbalance)n unladenvehicle, container or palletA blank weighmaster ertificate The weighmaster shallweigh the vehicle, container or pallet and issue a “Tare Only” certificate. ehicle Markings Each vehicle for which a predetermined individual tare weight has been established must be clearly marked, on both sides, with the following:Company name or codeLicenseplatenumberPredetermined tare weight(at least 3”letter/#’s he tare weight must be permanently marked either on

Container / Pallet MarkingsEach container or pallet for which a predetermined individual tare weight has been established must be clearly marked, on both sides, with the following:Company name or codentainer or pallet serial nmberPredetermined tare weight(at least 3”letters/#’s) Conditions of UseThe following conditions apply to the use of predetermined individual tare weights: A predetermined individual tarecannot be used if aparty having a legal or financial interest in thetransactionnotifies the weighmaster prior to theissuance of the certificate that a predetermined individual tareshall not be usedA weighmaster shall not use a predetermined individual tare weight which is not based on weighmaster records in his/her possession unlessfurnished with a copy of the “tare only” certificate which established the predetermined individual tare weight.A weighmaster shall not use a predetermined individual tare weight if for any reason it appears thatthe tare weight may be beyond the tolerance levels. TolerancePredetermined individualtare weights shall be maintained as close as practicable to the established tare weighthen verified by enforcement officials,the average weight of a group of containers cannot exceed the tolerance level of 2% of the established tare weight.tolerance for a predetermined tare weight of 1,000 poundsis shown below. Heaviest average =1,020 lb. Lightest average =980 lb. 2% of 1,000 lb.20 lb. Tolerance Example:
