Ann Caulfield
As
a veterinarian, her heart is with our four-legged friends and family members. She understands that our relationship with our pets is an integral part of our health and well-being. But, in a time of crisis they are sometimes overlooked. Ann’s project PAWS TO BREATHE is to provide animal CPR training for area firefighters and first responders. Additionally Ann will provide training and essential equipment for animal resuscitation for area fire companies and to collaborate with rescue organizations to develop disaster planning for domestic pets.Slide6
Kimberly Edmonds
Kim is a speech therapist who is also bi-lingual. Kim’s project will focus on helping parents of Spanish-speaking backgrounds support early language and literacy development. Kim will do this through the development of parent-child Read-Aloud story times where parents can learn about ways to use books, music and play to develop these skills. Kim’s program model will hopefully encourage parents to become coaches and to use their new skills to benefit others from their own community.Slide7
Maria Galarza
Maria is relatively new to Phoenixville and has hit the ground running. Her project, in conjunction with Ann’s Heart, is to develop a Diaper Bank for the Phoenixville area working cooperatively with Las
Madrinas, Alianzas of Phoenixville, En Familia, the Time Bank, and the local faith community. Her motto is “Keep it simple and Keep it alive and Keep baby bottoms covered”.Slide8
Ketteline Guerrier
Ketteline
, originally from Haiti, now lives in Phoenixville. She was formerly a regional sales manager for Mary Kay Cosmetics … she earned the pink Cadillac! Ketteline believes that every woman should look and feel beautiful … no matter what her age. Her project – Sweet 16 Senior Citizen Makeover - is to provide beauty treatments and make-overs for senior ladies collaborating with senior living facilities and senior centers. And her motto is “I am not finished with me yet
”.Slide9
Gwynne Hagee
Gwynne’s project will support the collaboration between the Phoenixville Area School District and Diversity in Action in the development and implementation of a mentoring program for students struggling academically. They have already recruited 18 mentors and the school district has held training with the goal of kicking off the program in December.Slide10
Tish Jones
We all know how important nutrition, healthy lifestyles and fitness are to Tish. Her project is
FITITUDE! Tish’s project would meet people where they are with regard to their feelings about fitness and health and help them find a balance as they discover their own personal Fititude. Tish will collaborate with police departments, churches and youth groups.Slide11
Joanne Kusko
Joanne’s project will work with A Baby’s Breath and the plan for the Phoenixville Center to open housing for homeless expectant mothers. The house will provide housing for 8 women. Donated furniture can be used to furnish the house, however, not beds and bedding. Her project is to acquire the beds and bedding necessary to furnish the bedrooms.Slide12
Kelsey Mattson
Her project will benefit the families being served by the Friends Association for the Care & Protection for Children. It is a Christmas Adopt-A-Family project that will provide gifts for the over forty families currently being served by the Friends Association. Kelsey says it is about the children. This project can make this homeless holiday memorable in hopes of giving them some normalcy.Slide13
Peter Mike-Meyer
CELEBRATED SHELTER the intersection of spirituality, sexuality and identity with the mission of creating a feeling of being at home in your own cosmos. His project is to screen the documentary “Two- Spirits” that addresses the native American culture that accepts and embraces the trans-gender identity. And then to host a post-screening dialog. Peter would also like to host a monthly community event promoting the CELEBRATED SHELTER mission as well as create a youth resource program.Slide14
Amber Miller Her project is to sponsor a miniature golf tournament and ice cream social for the benefit of Open Hearth. A graduate of Open Hearth’s Financial Literacy Program, Amber now serves on their board of directors. Through this event she would like to raise awareness about Open Hearth, gain new supporters, raise funds for programs and to build a sense of community.Slide15
Erin Murphy Her project is “Phoenixville Safe Routes for Seniors”. This is an initiative that will retrofit places to make them walkable – not just for fit and active young people but also for seniors. Working with senior groups, Activate Phoenixville Area and the Borough, her project can ensure that seniors have the safe, inviting, truly walkable environments to which they are entitled.Slide16
Jacob Zimmers
Better
