1 Land Art Generator Initiative (LAGI) i
Land Art Generator Initiative (LAGI) is a worldwide public arts initiative that offers the opportunity for collaborative teams of artists, architects, landscape architects and designers, working with engineers and scientists, to create new ways of thinking about what renewable energy generat ion looks like. Through a biennial design competition, LAGI gathers ideas that seek to create substantive models for change and that address public art within the urban fabric of a large - scale site - specific public art installations that uniquely combine art with utility scale clean energy generation. The session will provide a background of the LAGI initiative within the context of ecoart, urban planning, and the net - zero movement, showcasing examples from the 2010, 2012, and 2014 design competitions. The presentation will touch on LAGI's most recent work and a preview of the LAGI 2016 design competition for Southern California. A case study of the WindNest project, which is in detai led design for an urban site in Pittsburgh, PA , will provide insight into project management and public review processes for custom urban energy installations.
