POPULAR LINKS ON KERA LEARN! KERA Learn! pulls together thousands of digital materials from KERA, PBS, NPR and other trusted sources to enrich lessons at school and home and promote community engagement. You can search by keywords or using the search sentence with pull - down menus.  KERA Community Engagement – Check for events and outreach projects.  Start Smart Texas -- early childhood literacy and learning project for families o Texting service sends parenting tips to parents phones o Community family event planned for April  Educational toolkits – resources to guide discussions at school and home on complex topics like race, personal finance and the arts. Most are linked to PBS documentaries like Ken Burns’ series on the Vietnam War.  KERA Journalism – Coverage of our community o Listenwise ( https://listenwise.com/ ) – national site includes KERA stories with discussion questions.  KERA education newsletters o Education News & Happenings for educators o Full STEAM Ahead for parents of young kids  KERA’s Math Can Take You Places ( http://www.mathcantakeyouplaces.org ) Key math concepts. I ncludes TEKS - aligned lesson pl ans, videos, games and activities with a Texas flavor. Most parts are in Spanish & English. (Grades 3 - 6)  KERA Kids site ( http://kids.kera.org/ ) -- KERA’s website for young children is built around the station’s 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. weekday (Channel 13) and 24/7 (Channel 13.2) television schedules. It also has links to digital games, activities, videos and ot her content tied to each show and designed to teach the same skills to deepen and individualize learning.  PBS Ready To Learn ( https://kera.pbslearningmedia.org/collection/rtl2015/ ) F ree , evidence - based educational resources to help teachers, caregivers and parents build early science and literacy skills in ch ildren ages 2 - 8. The site includes media - rich, multi - platform resources in the form of videos, games, apps and hands - on activitie s tied to favorite PBS Kids shows. The site is funded by a U.S. Department of Education grant that will enable new materials to be added in coming years.  Digital Public Library of America Primary Source Sets ( https://dp.la/primary - source - sets ) -- Lessons help students develop critical thinking skills by exploring topics in history, literature, and culture through primary sources. (MS and HS)  iCivics ( https://www.icivics.org/ ) This nonprofit founded by former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor teaches students how government works by having them experience it through interactive games.
