A PPLICATION I NSTRUCTIONS : a) Email will be the primary form of communication from YRP. Candidates and r ecommenders must provide a valid email address. To ensure all communications are being received it is suggested that spam and trash folders are checked. b) Completed application packages may be submitted:  By email to csv@yrp.ca  In person to the ATTN: YIPI PROGRAM – Community Services, at any YRP District Headquarters c) Only s elected c andidates will be contacted. P ROGRAM I NFORMATION : York Regional Police is now accepting applica tions from students for the 201 8 Youth in Policing Initiative . In collaborati on with the Ministry of C hildren and Youth Services, York Regional Police are engaging youth in an innovative employment experience within a safe and healthy work environment. The YIPI Program is suitable for youth with l

eadership potential who may exper ience barriers to success and would benefit from a positive mentorship experience. The goal of the YIPI Program is to offer youth an opportunity to develop job skills, to inspire young people to consider a career in policing and to become ambassadors of Yo rk Regional Police by improving police and community relations. Each selected c andidate will have the opportunity through structured activities, team - based work groups and mentorship to:  experience a variety of police units and community organizations thro ughout York Region ;  work together to support organizational and community initiatives ;  develop and enhance employment, life and team work skills. 3. C ANDIDATE R EQUIREMENTS : Candidate s must meet the following criteria to be considered:  Be between 15 – 18 year s of age at the time they apply for the program  Live in York Region  Be legally eligible to work in Canada  Be currently enrolled in school and returning to school in September 201 8  Available to work every scheduled day of the program  Successfully complete t he recruitment and background clearance process  Must not have been convicted of a Criminal Offence for which a pardon has not been granted and must not have any charges pending before the courts

S UMMER P ROGRAM D ETAILS :  Students will be employed on a f ull - time basis, for 40 hours a week from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  The start date will be July 201 8 and will end August 20 1 8 5.
