slide2. Triassic Period exist during Mesozoic Era which occur approximately 210 to 245 milion years ago.
At this period, The First Dinosaurs and Mammals occur in fossil record.
Therapsids are early carnivorous synapsid that survive beyond Palezoic Era.
Cynodonts are early mammal-like reptiles . TRIASSIC PERIOD (Cyonodonts) Presence of respiratory turbinates in cynodont suggests a rapid metabolism and possibly endothermy
Hair is vital for insulation, sebaceous and sweat gland ; facilitate thermoregulation.
Articular and quadrate; served as jaw joint but then reduced in size.
They are relocate in middle ear for better transmission of sound vibration.
A new jaw joint was formed between the dentary and squamosal bone.
Dentary-squamosal joint define characteristics of fossil mammals.
Having mode of reproduction like monotremes (mammalian subgroup; echidnas and platypus)
slide3. Age of Mammals occur approximately 65 million years ago; mammals are diversified into variety of species include land, sea, flying mammals.
The Cenozoic was divided into Tertiary and Quarternary Period.
Tertiary Period: climate was generally warm and humid; allow mammals to evolve and fulfill the niches, mammals increased in size.
Quarternary Periods (Ice Age): climate cooled, leading to a series of ice ages. Sea levels fell because so much water was frozen in glaciers.
Land bridges was created between continents; allowing land animals to move to new areas; eg: like the woolly mammoths adapt to the cold by having a very large size and thick fur.
Other animals moved closer to the equator or went extinct, along with many plant
The last ice age ended 12,000 years ago. By that time, Homo sapiens had evolved. CENOZOIC PERIOD (The Age Of Mammals)
