slide2. We want to engage parents and others to understand, support and participate in our campaign.
We want to pressure politicians, by mobilising our social weight, to effect Government policy.
We will strike to keep our demands at the forefront of Government and public thinking. Engage. Pressure. Strike.<br>
slide3. As we enter intensive talks we need to lobby Tory MPs so that we can put pressure on the government.
We will do this by arranging local lobbies of the 91 target Tory MPs that we have identified.
A local lobby involves members arranging a meeting with them to discuss the pay campaign.
But we must make sure these are effective. Pressure politicians<br>
slide4. Branch or District Secretary to write to local MP. Draft letter is available here.
If letter does not get a quick response call the constituency office
If their office does not offer a time to meet look up times for surgeries and see if you can book a slot in one of these
Advertise the lobby time to members and supporters
Make sure all those attending the lobby are briefed

slide5. Before members contact their MP it will be important to consider how likely they are to be supportive.
Things to consider when it comes to the MP– ​
Which party they are from​
Whether they are a minister/frontbencher - Govt ministers have to support the govt line
Do they have a trade union background?​
Do they represent a marginal seat?​

Members to tweet at the MP asking them why they will not meet with them (tag @NEUnion in posts so we are aware and can share)
