slide2. What is teaching ? Teaching is the social and professional activity. It is a process of development. It is a system of actions which induce learning through interpersonal relationship.
The main function of teaching is to make learning effective.
The main objective of teaching is to change the behaviour of the learner in the classroom situation.<br>
slide3. Definitions H.C.Morrison—Teaching is an intimate contact between more mature personality and less mature one.
Jackson—Teaching is a face to face encounter between two or more persons, one whom(Teacher) intends to effect certain changes in the other participants (Students)<br>
slide4. Phases of Teaching Philip W. Jackson analyses the teaching systematically in three stages.
(A) Pre-active phase of teaching
(B) Interactive Phase of Teaching
(C) Post active phase of teaching<br>
slide5. A. Pre-active phase It is called planning stage. Following operations are included in this stage.
Formulation or fixing up the goals.
Decision about the content.
Sequencing appropriate means and ways of presentation
Deciding about appropriate strategies and tactics of teaching.
Developing teaching strategies for specific subject matter.<br>
slide6. B. Interactive phase In this stage, all those behaviour and activities included which a teacher uses after entering the classroom. The activities are-
Sizing up the class.
Diagnosis of the learner.
Action and reaction.
(i) Selection of stimuli.
(ii) Presentation of stimulii.
(iii) Choice of strategies.
(iv) Development of strategies.<br>

Defining the exact dimensions of behavioural change.
Selecting appropriate testing devices.
Changing or improving strategies of teaching.
