slide1. Sanofi’s real-world studies in digital health showed that DDS can improve outcomes, did not increase safety signals, could reduce HCRU, and contribute to cost savings1-4,a DDS users were compared to a well-matched non-user cohort in a real-world setting using a stringent matching method1-4
De-identified user data were linked to external datasets to investigate actual clinical and economic outcomes5,6 Study Questions
Can DDS contribute to improved management of diabetes in users vs non-users without increasing safety risks?
Could the use of DDS potentially contribute to a reduction in resource utilization in the healthcare setting?
Could DDS contribute to cost savings for the healthcare system? Key Conclusions
1. Improvements in A1C management were observed in DDS users vs non-users after 6 months1
2. Improvements in population management were observed in DDS users with no additional safety signals requiring medical intervention2
A 9% lower all-cause HCRU rate was observed for DDS users vs non-users on usual care after 12 months. DDS use could be a contributing factor in a 24% lower hospitalization rate,3 26% lower all-cause HRCU charges, and reported estimated cost savings of $4513 PPY4
There was an observed potential increase in all-cause office visits of 15% for DDS users vs non-users. The incurred charges reported were 19%Â lower for DDS users, and the estimated cost savings reported were of $564 PPPY4 Study Design Highlights Study Limit-ations As with all real-world studies, regardless of the robustness of design, residual confounding factors may still remain1
Non-users in the study may also be more motivated than the general population, leading to under-estimation of the comparative effect size5,6 DDS, Dario Diabetes Solution; HCRU, healthcare resource utilization; PPPY, per patient per year.
