When a project does not qualify for the home adaptation grant, the RLC will notify the referring VRC in writing with the non-qualification reason Non-Qualification 6 1 If the definition is not met for home adaptation, the VRC will follow other means to acquiring the required home modification, to include:

c. VA Acquisition services
If the six lifetime usage is exhausted, the VRC is unable to provide home adaptation services 2 (Note that a determination of three lifetime usages of the SAH grant results in non-qualification for the VR&E Housing Adaptation Grant and the VRC cannot authorize home adaptations under chapter 21 or 31.)
If the total amount of the home adaptation under the VR&E Housing Adaptation Grant exceeds the current VR&E grant limit, a waiver is required
The Director of VR&E Service, in collaboration with the Director of LGY Service, must approve the waiver before the rehabilitation plan is signed
The VREO, or designee, must submit the Director’s Checklist for Waiver of VR&E Housing Adaptation Grant, VA Form 28-0953A, and all required documentation noted on the checklist to the Director, VR&E Service, for approval Waiver Process 10
