slide2. Overview Welcome to your online PE lessons!
My name is Miss Saunders and I will be coordinating and planning your PE lessons until the time comes that we can return to school and learn as a cohort.
All lessons will still be based around our curriculum intent here at Oasis Brislington and due to our current circumstances please be reassured that our main aims will still be reflective of this, just in a modified manner.
You will be required to spend 60 minutes per day Monday-Friday between 9am-10am completing the practical and theory components of our lessons. You will need a lined workbook for the theory tasks.
If you have any questions, I am available during normal school hours via email at brianna.saunders@oasisbrislington.org
Take care and stay active!

slide3. Lesson 30. Fartlek Training
slide4. Fartlek Training Please copy heading and definition into your workbooks. Fartlek, a Swedish term that means "speed play," is a form of interval or speed training that can be effective in improving your running speed and endurance.

Fartlek running involves varying your pace throughout your run, alternating between fast segments and slow jogs. Unlike traditional interval training that uses specific timed or measured segments, fartleks are more unstructured. Work-rest intervals can be based on how the body feels. With fartlek training, you can experiment with pace and endurance, and experience changes of pace.

Many runners, especially beginners, enjoy fartlek training because it involves speed work, but it is more flexible and not as demanding as traditional interval training. Another benefit of fartlek training is that it doesn't have to be done on a track and can be done on all types of terrain, such as roads, trails, or hills. Fartlek training puts a little extra stress on your system, eventually leading to faster speeds and improving your anaerobic threshold.
“SURROUNDINGS” FARTLEK TRAINING

After 10 minutes of warm-up jogging pick a landmark in the distance—this can be a telephone pole, mailbox, a tree, a building, etc, and run to it at a faster pace.
Once you have reached it, slow down and recover with your normal running pace for as long as you need (just don’t fully stop), then find a new landmark and speed it up again.
Aim to repeat this for 10 minutes.
Keep in mind that there are no rules here, so run on how you feel to determine final duration.
