Please remember to be respectful to all those around. This includes being respectful of personal choices around physical boundaries and wearing personal protective equipment.Practicing respect in everything we do will help us continue to work safely together.

5. Pause for Health: RelaxationAre you stressed and don’t even know it? Some common signs are:Your teeth or mouth hurt. You get canker sores. You frequently have bad dreams. Your hair's falling out. You’re battling your bowels.Your ears are ringing. You’re forgetful. Let’s take a pause for our health this week and focus on finding a relaxation technique that works for you! It takes practice, but as you learn relaxation techniques, you can become more aware of muscle tension and other physical sensations of stress. Once you know what the stress response feels like, you can make a conscious effort to practice a relaxation technique the moment you start to feel stress symptoms. This can prevent stress from spiraling out of control.Remember that relaxation techniques are skills. As with any skill, your ability to relax improves with practice. Be patient with yourself. Don't let your effort to practice relaxation techniques become yet another stressor. If one relaxation technique doesn't work for you, try another technique. If none of your efforts at stress reduction seems to work, talk to your doctor about other options or call Homewood Health for more support at 1-800-663-1142!The benefits of relaxation techniques:Slowing heart rate.Lowering blood pressure.Slowing your breathing rate.Improving digestion.Maintaining normal blood sugar levels.Reducing activity of stress hormones.Increasing blood flow to major muscles.Reducing muscle tension and chronic pain.Remember your benefits are here for support! Try a massage, acupuncture or meet with a Dietician or Naturopath to reduce stress in any area of your life!Mental Health Tip of the WeekMake “downtime” a priority. Put time aside every day to do something relaxing.Try catching the sun sets at 10:15p.m., if you aren’t up for the 4:50 a.m. sunrise!
