Factories that would not hire African Americans now hired them to help keep up with the demand. These factories made tanks, guns, uniforms and other supplies needed by the military. In the year 1941,

However, bothAfrican Americans and Japanese Americans served inseparate units away from white soldiers. Many wereforced to be cooks and dig ditches, instead of fight.
