Stars are balls of hot gas.. They are much larger than planets. and much further from Earth.. The sun is the closest star to Earth.. Most of the gas in the inside of a star is hydrogen and its temperature is over 20 million degrees Fahrenheit. There is also helium, a gas that is formed when the hydrogen molecules join together.. Myth. Science. Stars Only. Star Map. By Gus Ciuffo. Myth. In . the beginning, there was only Uranus and his mother/wife, Gaia. Gaia was Mother Earth, so she would control the way earth works. Uranus was the god of the sky, so he had made the sun to aid Gaia’s creations. Together, Gaia and Uranus could to amazing things. The problem was, the sun was only around for about 12 hours a day, which meant that they couldn’t do anything for half the day. Creations would take way longer than they needed to because of night time. The creation of the first sun took a millions of years, even when Uranus hadn’t done anything yet and was completely energized.
