How do I know what classes to take... Think about Interest and self-directedness Self-motivation, study, and time management skills Prior level of successful coursework BALANCE Where do you want to be in four years? Opportunities after graduation Begin with the end in mind On-level vs. Pre-AP/AP Outside commitments to sports, church activities, clubs, jobs, etc.
ConsiderationsPre-AP/AP/Dual Credit Classes TRUTHS I have the time and desire to take on more. I'm willing to go above and beyond.I have a pretty full plate, but I still have room for more.I'm highly interested in this subject area.I have a natural talent here. I have a growth mindset and want to approach this with grit.FALLACIES This is THE way to get into college.I'm brighter; I'm a rule-follower. I have to take advanced everything to be successful. My peers are, so I must.My parents expect me to.I can take all advanced classes, participate in extracurricular, volunteer/work, and be a healthy teenager.
