Introduction

“Buzz, Buzz” W

hat’s that sound? It looks like a pencil, but has two wings, and 30,000 little parts in one eye? Its a dragonfly! Slide3

What does the Dragonfly look like?

Dragonfly’s wings have veins and their wings look like transparent or clear leaves because of the veins. They can be blue, red, and green.

They also have 30,000 little parts in one eye. Slide4

What is the Dragonfly’s habitat?

Dragonflies rest on rocks and branches. They live in warm areas near water and plants. Some

live in mountains and deserts. Slide5

What does the Dragonfly eat and

how does it hunt?

Baby Dragonflies eat tadpoles and fish. Babies also have a mouth part called labium. Adult Dragonflies eat mosquitoes and gnats. Slide6

All about Dragonfly babies.

Dragonflies start out as eggs. Babies hatch and are called nymphs. Baby nymphs stay for two years. They shed their skin a lot.Slide7

Fun facts.

People confuse the dragonfly and the damselfly. You can tell them apart by several things. The dragonflies eyes are touching and the damselfly’s eyes are apart.

The dragonfly’s body is stockier and the damselfly is longer and thinner. The dragonfly rests with wings open, and the damselfly rests with his wings closed over his abdomen.Slide8
