Changes for 2019-2020Reading and Mathematics will be assessed at grade 10 to align with summative assessments at high school. No assessments will be given at grade 9 . Will test current standards for accountability in Window 1 and Window 2 with small range field test tied to Window 2 .New standards will be reviewed (Fall 2019) and field tested (Spring 2020) for a fully accountable assessment in 2021. 2

ADMINISTRATION CODE and INCLUSION of SPECIAL POPULATIONS TRAININGS REQUIRED Anyone who will be administering a state assessment ( this includes the Alternate K-PREP Attainment Tasks and Transition Attainment Record ) must complete the following trainings:Administration Code Training (703 KAR 5:080)Inclusion of Special Populations Training (703 KAR 5:070) These trainings must be completed before any assessment administration is permitted . BEFORE YOU TEST

Participation GuidelinesStudents participating in the Kentucky Alternate Assessment must meet all requirements found in the participation guidelines. The participation guidelines were revised in the fall of 2017 and released on February 15, 2018.

Determining Grade of StudentA student should be assessed at the same grade as his/her grade level on the attendance roster in Infinite Campus (IC). Once a student has completed all assessment requirements through grade 12, he/she can be placed into Grade 14 on attendance rosters in (IC).

What’s Next?Print the Administration Guide located on this same website (www.education.ky.gov –Assessment and Accountability–District Support- Alternate K-PREP-Alternate K-PREP Resources.) A fter the completion of the Overview and AT training, teachers administering the Transition Attainment Record (TAR) must complete the online training module. The Transition Attainment Record will be posted September 30, 2019.The Assessment Overview and Attainment Task Training and the corresponding qualifying quiz must be passed before beginning the AT assessment. If required, the Transition Attainment Record (TAR) training and corresponding quiz must be passed prior to administering the TAR.

What’s Next (continued)Test Administrators must successfully complete the overview and Attainment Task training and quiz by November 1, 2019.“Successfully” is defined as answering questions with 80% accuracy (the quiz contains 3 questions which are required for successful completion, regardless of score; they are MANDATORY QUESTIONS) Quizzes must be taken and passed in consecutive order (e.g., Overview and Attainment Tasks, then Transition Attainment Record: grade 11; (optional at 12 & 14).If a participant is unable to pass a quiz section within 3 attempts, does not complete all sections of the trainings/quizzes by the completion date, or the quiz is locked, he or she must contact the building or district level assessment coordinator (BAC/DAC) to contact KDE.
