Metso, in cooperation with Exxon Mobil, has conducted several trials with Mobil’s SHC630 line of synthetic lubricants to maximize the lubrication of bearings and gears. The choice of the correct oil viscosity for lubricant oil will depend on the size and operating conditions of the bearings, the range of operating temperature and rotation speed (rpm). Utilize the table below to select the correct viscosity: Frequency of oil change When operating a brand new machine, lubricant oil should be changed after the first 40 hours of service and, then, according to the oil change intervals specified for the equipment. Lubricant oil should also be changed if the machine has remained idle for over 4 months. Regular oil changes should be scheduled according to the program below: AUTHOR Gustavo C. These regular oil changes will keep exciters free of any condensation or contamination that might cause trouble and affect performance during equipment operation. Severe operating conditions may demand more frequent oil changes. Lubricant oil should be drained immediately after the machine is turned off so that any incidental contaminants are still in suspension in the hot oil so as to ensure that the largest amount possible of contamination is removed along with the oil. Use extreme caution when handling hot oil. Oil level The amount of oil used for lubrication of ML Exciters is approximately 7 liters. Remove the oil level plug. A uniform drip of oil will indicate that the proper level has been reached. For further information, please refer to the owner’s manual for your equipment. Vibrating screens Lubrication of linear exciters type ML To ensure the service life of linear exciters type ML (used in screens such as the models MF, LH and dewatering), you must follow strictly the frequency of oil changes.
