The foundation of successful coaching is creating a positive learning environment, along with a positive culture that develops young people.. . To create this learning environment all the key influencers in a young person’s development must be involved: coaches, parents, club leaders and teachers.. UNDERSTANDING WHAT CONFIDENCE IS NOT. Whilst understanding what confidence is, it is equally important to understand what confidence is . not. .. . Being the loudest athlete in the team does not necessarily make your child a confident person, nor does being the quietest mean they lack confidence. Confidence is the ability to face a challenge and work towards achieving that challenge. . EFFORT LOG. Overview. Effort logs can be used to monitor the effort put in by each player/athlete during your coaching session.. Coaches may complete the log themselves or enlist the help of an assistant coach or injured player/athlete to help. Select some key areas such as effort, behaviour or attitude and mark the young person from 1 (extremely light) to 5 (extremely hard). . DEVELOPING VALUES THROUGH SPORT. One of the many roles you have as a parent, is to instil values in your child, sport provides an excellent opportunity to do this. Through sport, you have the opportunity to teach the following values:. The word . discipline. has origins in the Latin word . disciplina. , which means, “to teach.” . Adapting this concept to raising children, I believe positive discipline means guiding, redirecting, and teaching our children in a way that opens them to be the best they can be. . AGREED CONSEQUENCES. There will be occasions when the agreed standards and expectations are not adhered to – then what?. . It is important that coaches can enforce the behavioural standards that are agreed within the club – to do this, agreeing the consequences is very important.. Current Trends in Tourism. I can name some of the current trends Visit Scotland has identified in their recent trends publication.. A trend is an item or idea that becomes extremely popular for a short period of time.
