CALIFORNIASTATEJOURNALOFMEDICINE.MINUTESOFTHEPROCEEDINGSOFTHEMEDICALSOCIETYOFTHESTATEOFCALIFORNIAATITSTHIRTY-SECONDANNUALSESSIONHELDINGOLDENGATEHALL,625SUTTERSTREET,SANFRANCISCO,CALIFORNIA,APRIL,1902.Themeetingwascalledtoorderbythepresident,membersofourprofession.TherewillbemoreWilliamJ.G.DawsonofSt.Helena,onTuesdayharmonyamongtiSmoretendencytoassumemorning,April15,1902,at10:30A.M.,andwas-asupenedwithaprayerbyRev.Wm.C.Pond,D.D.thateachofusiShonestlydoinghisbest,moreWm.PitchCheney,ChairmanoftheCommitteewillingnesstobelievethateveryphysicianiscom-onArrangements,.deliveredtheaddressofwelcome,petentandupright,indirectproportionasweanditwasmoved,secondedandcarriedthattheknoweachotherbetter.ToomanytimesweaddreesbereferredtotheCommitteeonPublication.criticizetheotherman,wespeakslightinglyofhiswork,weassumethathehasnotactedwiselyMr.President,MembersoftheMedicalSo-simplybecausewedonotknowhimpersonallycietyoftheStateofCalifornia,LadiesandandhavenotlearnedbyfacetofacetalkwithGentlemen:himthathispreparationforhiswork,thathisNumeroustimesbeforethisourSocietyhasaims,hisambitions,hisideals,arethesameasmetinSanFrancisco,butneverbeforehasitourown.Thesemeetingsaffordtheopportunityfoundheresuchaconditionofprosperityasex-forsuchpersonalacquaintanceandlaytheistsnow.Weareinthemidstofagreat-busi-fouindationforsuchmutualrespect.nessrevival;newbuildingsareevervwherebeingImaybetooenthusiastic,butIhavetheerected;newenterprisesareonallsidesspring-utmost.faithinthegoodthatistocometousasingintolife;vigor-andenergyareintheair;medicalmenfromorganization,fromexchangeandinwelcomingyouatthistime,itiswiththeofknowledge,frompersonalacquaintancewithhopethatourproceedingsmaybecharacterizedeachother,suchasthesemeetingsafford.Andbythespiritoftheday.withthesethoughtsinmind,withallthevigorAsindividuals,physiciansareasarulementhatthetimesinspire,andwithalltheheartinessofthebesteducation,progressive,wideawake,thatthepresentprosperityprompts,Ibidyou-energetic.Yettherearemanythingsforustowelcometothismeeting.May-itbecharacter-dothatw.ecanneverdoasindividuals.Organ-izedbytheprogressivenessandtheenergvthatizationisrequiredbeforewecanmakeourin-nowdominatesthepeopleofthis,themetropolisfluencemostwidelyfelt.HencetheexistenceofnotonlyofCaliforniaandofthePacificCoast,thisSociety.Butitisamatterfordeepregrethutofthewesternhalfofthisgreatcountry.thatsofewintheranksofregularmedicineareTheannualaddresswasdeliveredbythepresident,foundwithinthisorganizationWilliamJ.G.Dawson,ofSt.Helena.ItwasmovedNexttobusinessquestionscomesthescientificbyDr.Davis,secondedandcarried,thatavoteofsideofourmeeting.Itisundoubtedlygoodforthanksbetenderedtothepresidentforhisablead-Idres,adtaitbrecrrdtthExctv.Cmustomeettogetherandexchangeviews.Noss,andthatitbereferredtotheEtecutiveCoin-manknowsitall.EachoneisabletoleariiItwasmoved.byPhilipMillsJones,'secondedandsomethingfromhis'neighbor.Intherushofcarried,thatthereportoftheCommitteeontheRe-actualworkwithourpatientsduringtheyear,visionoftheConstitutionandBy-Lawsbereadbywehavenotimetotalkovercaseswitheach-titleintheafternoon,.andthatitbebroughtuponwehaveno.Thursdaymorning,April17,asaspecialorderofotherandsotofindouthowtheothermandoesbusiness,tobediscussedinfull.hiswork.ItisonlybysuchmeetingsasthisthatTheminutesofthemorningsessionwerethenreadopportiunityisaffordedformutualexchangeofandapproved,andthemeetingadjournedat.11:15experiencesinourprofession.WewhobelongAMtomeetagainat2P.M.tothisSocietyandattenditsmeetings,feelthatAfternoonSession,Tuesday,April15,1902.wearehelpedbythemtoincreasedusefulnessThemeetingwascalledtoorderat2:15P.M.byButstillmorehelpfulnesswillcometousfromthePresident.Dudley,TaitandH.B.A.Kugelerwerewiderinterchanigeofopinions;andsomewayappointedontheBoardofCensors,andPhilipMillsmustgaboutanincreasedJonesandPhilipKingBrownontheExeoutiveCom-mustbedeviseto'bring'bunraemittee,protem..membershipinourSociety,anincreasedattend--Thereportof,thespecialcommitteeontherevisionanceatthesemeetingsandanincreasedinterestofConstitutionandBy-Lawswasreadbythechair-inthesublectswemeetto-discuss.-man,-C.G.Kenyon.Itwasmoved,secondedand'Thereisstillanotherreasonforthesemeet-carried,thatthereportofthecommitteeonrevisionof.Constitutionandfly-Lawsbereceivedandre-ings,andthatistheacquaintanceandgoodfel-ferredtotheExec.utiveCommittee,tobeconsideredlowshiptobepromotedbythemamnongsttheThursday.,morning,specialorderofbusines8s.'25
