transitioning to high school 4 x 4 schedule Provide increased accessibility to students by providing them with the opportunity to take eight units of credit per year Promote student success by focusing on fewer classes at one time. A treasury of science experiments designed to show children that science is more than a list of facts: it\'s also fun! Guides kids through the steps necessary to successfully complete an experiment, teaching them the best method of solving problems and discovering answers. 201 short experiments cover five different fields: astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science and physics. \"Why do planets spin? How hot is the Sun? What keeps the Moon in orbit around the Earth? What are Saturn\'s rings made of? What\'s a black hole in space? Now you can discover the answers to these and other fascinating questions about basic astronomy. In Astronomy for Every Kid you\'ll learn about the constellations using a shoe box planetarium. You\'ll chart the movement of the stars with nothing but a string, a marker, and a nail. And you\'ll use a toy magnet to simulate the Earth\'s protective force field. Each of the 101 experiments is broken down into its purpose, a list of materials, step-by-step instructions, expected results, and an easy to understand explanation. Every activity has been pretested and can be performed safely and inexpensively in the classroom or at home. Also available in this series from Janice VanCleave:

\" How are mountains formed? What makes the air we breathe? What causes the ocean waves? Now you can learn the answers to these and other questions aboutthe earth, sea, and air through 101 fun, safe, low-cost experimentsand activities that can be performed at home or in the classroom. In Earth Science for Every Kid, you\'ll use a tennis ball and amarble to demonstrate a solar eclipse. You\'ll make a peanut butterand jelly sandwich to understand sedimentary rock formation. And, with the assistance of a Slinky(r) and a helper, you\'ll learn aboutthe motion of water waves. Each of the 101 experiments is broken down into its purpose, a listof materials, step-by-step instructions, expected results, and aneasy to understand explanation.
