1. Hello again Year 6Thank you for your fantastic artwork last week of the Viking Longboat Figurehead. This week we’re going to collage a Ferocious Viking Warrior.Where in our local area have you seen Viking sculptures?Do you recognise these Viking Warriors?

2. You will need some coloured paper – if you have none at home you can paint white paper, then use this to cut and collage your Viking Face.To begin - take grey paper, fold it and draw a semi-circle on the fold.Cut out and open up, this is the shape of the face.

3. Next, take some black paper, about the same width as the face.Fold the black paper and draw a quarter circle onto the fold.Cut out, open and this is the shape of the helmet.Glue in place (remember to use scrap paper to glue!)

4. Now start to add detail by cutting a mask shape from black paper and add a mouth too.

5. Here’s where you can be flamboyant and colourful!Use shiny paper or tin foil to create the metalwork on the helmet – measure first then cut to the right size.Glue in place.

6. Give your Viking wide eyes - I cut white circles and glued googly eyes in place. Add hairy detail using coloured paper.I cut rectangles for the eyebrows and curled them with my scissors.Cut various widths of paper strips to create hair, moustache and beard. Fold the paper backwards and forwards to create flowing locks!

7. Finally I added snarling teeth, cut from white paper and jewels to my helmet. I used coloured foil paper. You might have sequins or old jewellery to add decoration to your ferocious Viking Warrior.I’m looking forward to meeting your Warriors. Please send a photo to me via seesaw.Thank you, Mrs Coulston
