Slide4Implementing Departments & PartnersWith the inspiration from Honorable Governor, Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel, state made a modest beginning of adopting 21 patients on 25 August 2019.On the call from Honorable Governor various Philanthropic organizations/ functionaries came forward including

The District TB Officer identifies TB patients for adoption
&
obtain parental consent.
Simultaneously identification & listing of agencies/ functionaries willing to adopt TB Patients
Categorisation of patients & sharing of the list with agencies.
As far as possible confidentiality is
maintained during the entire process.

After the successful treatment of the adopted TB patients a new list of patients is again shared.
Chief Medical Officer of the district is the nodal officer for this activity.

onitoring of this process is done at the district level by the District Magistrate.
The adopting agencies/ functionaries visi
t the patients at least once every month.

supplementary food kit
for nutritional support comprising of indigenous high nutritive food items (e.g. Ground nuts, Roasted gram, Jaggery, Sattu, Til/
Gazak
, other Nutritional supplement).
They
support the patients and their family to overcome the emotional & social setbacks (discrimination or stigma in neighborhoods, discontinuation in formal education of the child, uncertainty about the future of the child etc.) faced by them due to the disease.They also increase the awareness about the available services under the NTEP
and help the TB patient to avail various services like free diagnosis, treatment, Nikshay Poshan Yojna, follow up, adverse drug reaction management etc.They stay in touch with the concerned NTEP staff and facilitate the required services
to the patients.

Slide8Outcome and Impact Total 38,047 TB patients adopted by various organizations & functionaries across the state.
The Treatment Success rate among the pediatric age group in 2019 was 81% which improved to 89% in 2020.

chemes of departments like Social Welfare, Women & Child Development etc.)
Apart from community engagement, the responsiveness of the system towards patients has also improved leading to improved success rate.This initiative has also caught the attention of honorable Prime Minister of India.
