Status and plans for implementation of a national ID systemPlease share your country’s status and plans for implementation of a national ID systemDoes your country have or are there plans for implementation of a national ID system?

By 2024 the CRVS systems needs to be upgrade to start issuing National ID

Create a unit under the department to look after the National ID card System

All department must have view access only to the CRVS system

MOIA priorities is to capture all registered voters before end f this year

(Start issuing ID card this month from age 12 years and upwards)

Which Ministry is leading its implementation?

Ministry of Internal Affairs (MOIA)

Is the national ID system linked to the civil registration system (do birth and death records from civil registration flow into the national ID system)?

Yes The national ID system is integral component of the CRVS system.
