Slide3MDT EE installation and commissioning from DCS point of view 1/2
Software integration of EE chambers side A into DCS was done already during 2011/12 together with side C – major effort out of the way !Integration is based on pre-defined mapping (LV, HV, allocation) and information in the MDT configuration DB – some surprises to be expectedTo be done:Install few missing HV boardsVerify and properly configure all settingsProperly enable new nodes in the FSMCan Node ID to be changed for a few (known) chambers to avoid conflicts with duplicates on the bus
Adjust alarm settings gas system, activate interlocks
Commissioning and testing/verifcation
DCS operations and manpower:
To my understanding Michel‘s latest schedule forsees EEL install + commissioning 20/2 to 20/3; EES install + commissioning 18/3 to 7/5/2013
Michel‘s schedule forsees infrastructure interventions which seem to be
conflicting
No USA15 rack cooling Feb 18 to Mar 15
VME crates off, endcap alignment off, remaining DCS partial availability (CanBus not clear, power not clear)
No power on sniffers/AUG tests, power cut: May 2-4 2013
Slide4MDT EE installation and commissioning from DCS point of view 2/2
DCS operations and manpower continued:My idea is to leave MDT DCS untouched and operational from end of data taking to May 7. From May 7 on we will plan the major upgrade work, especially CanBus and computer replacement, migration to new OS and Can interfaces, ...: DCS fully unavailable over the summer for the detector community (after the summer, continue with development of additional tools, software, procedures, ....)My idea is to have 1 or 2 dedicated DCS experts support the EE commissining
1 „old“ and one of the „newer“ students from NTUA ?Need to plan for financial support on M&O (Ludo)
Experts‘ responsible
Support when needed – on call duty (during the week)
Spending a few hours each day in the control room during commissioning passing on DCS operations to new detector people
From Feb 25 to mid April myself will be absent from CERN, follow things from remote and guide experts if needed
Date when to finish commissioning needs to be firm, need to in the next weeks fix plans with Robert Hart, Agostino and other external people for DCS upgrade work !!
To finalise
To Tiesheng/Gerian: Please make sure you include us in the discussion and changes of plans, so far DCS was not contacted at all w.r.t. To EE commissioning plans !
