The number of Of“ cials selected is to ensure the safety of all participants. Of“ cials raise funds, cheerfully put up with the ravings of the Bash Director while working long hours and missing The basis of our Safety System is the tracking of entrants from start to “ nish during each day. As the Outback of Australia can still be a potentially dangerous environment, it is important that all entrants are accounted for. Any entrants not accounted for at checkpoints along the way will be noti“ ed to our central command post. Be certain your Bash Vehicle is checked through at all checkpoint locations. Our Radio BaseŽ command post can contact Of“ cials vehicles by HF radio and divert them to search for missing entrants. Thus a prime responsibility of Of“ cials is to continually monitor the HF radio set “ tted to their vehicle. Our HF radio network also allows us to contact emergency services in a hurry if need be. The Mobile Workshop crew will probably charge you anyway, by way of Bash Bucks, cold stubbies, or something else easily tradeable.5.If your car cannot be repaired on site and is easily towable, the Mobile Workshop will tow you into the next place of repair. (FROM HERE ITS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SORT OUT YOUR DIFFICULTIES UNLESS SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS ARE AGAIN MADE WITH THE WORKSHOP CREW)You may have a fair wait for a Mobile Workshop as they tend to lag towards the back of the “ eld due to the time taken to repair cars, so get out the necessary parts before they arrive.Standing at the “ nal checkpoint for the day, gazing into dusty faces and listening to those wonderful questions on accommodation keeps an Of“ cial amused (NOT!!).Yes, even Of“ cials have to go out without a shower every now and then.
