SIX HATS®, using color to illustrate metaphorical hats with divergent thinking traits, provides teachers and students with a strategy that provokes inquiry and sparks fluency by categorizing types of questions. It enables both teachers and students to think at higher levels by moving discussions from facts, to application, to global connections and possibilities. Writing, reading, and speaking become clearer and more precise. Research has shown an increase of one year’s growth for students who write using the SIX HATS® strategy.
