Jobs in the hotel!
In 1882 the new St. Louis opened on Superior Street. The
hotel was the most outstanding hotel in Zenith City. Miles operated the Hotel barber shops and bathrooms. Candace opened her own dressmaker business.Slide9
A reporter from the Daily Winona News came to Alexander Miles’
house and wrote about the successful man. Miles drove the reporter around to show off the amazing parts of Duluth. They traveled behind a large group of horses to show how amazing Zenith City was. Slide10
The saddest moment in Alexander Miles’ life was when his wife Candace died at the age of 71. Following
her death, Alexander was very ill and died in the hospital.
