ROLE PROFILE Part1 Role Title CRIME INCIDENT MANAGEMENT UNIT (CIMU) ASSESSMENT OFFICER Dept /LPA CRIME STANDARDS UNIT VETTING LEVEL STAFF Grade/Rank Scale 4 bar 5 Responsible To Crime Incident Management Unit Manager Staff Line Managed None Reviewed by (Manager) Tony Harris Date 28/09/2016 Purpose of Job To review recorded incidents of crime for compliance with Home Office guidelines which will ensure that the Force files accurate data upon which they can assess crime patterns and plan demand and that victims receive the service they are entitled to. Key Accountabilities 1. Working to provide data and administrative support to the Force, including assisting: · To identify, assemble, analyse and assess all relevant information, draw clear and sustainable conclusions and be personally responsible for making decisions as regards the accuracy, consistency and integrity of crimes and incidents. · Undertake administrative and clerical tasks associated with reported crimes and incidents’, ensuring the RMS database is effectively maintained in respect of data quality and compliance of business and Home Office Counting rules. 2. To data quality check relevant records in relation to (nominals, addresses, vehicle entities) and associated master filing conventions. 3. To conduct dip sample audits on occurrences to inform thematic reports created within the Crime Standards Department. 4. To have specialist knowledge of and the ability to apply crime/incidents assessments in compliance with Home Office Counting Rule, National Crime Recording Standards and National Standard of Incident Recording, and in accordance with Force Policies and Procedures and Police National Legal Database. 5. Subsequent data quality checking processes of incidents and crimes. ensuring compliance with business rules and ethical and accurate application of outcomes. 6. To undertake general office duties including faxing, photocopying, filing and production of standard letters and reports. 7. To be aware of Force Policies on Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection and to comply with the legislation and standards of ‘good practice’. 8. To accurately input onto the in-house database (RMS) a range of police reports in order to create a record

on the database i.e. occurrence reports

Deputise for the CIMU Manager demonstrating all the principle accountabilities outlined in the job description. Note: This role profile is designed to assist postholders with understanding what is expected of them in their role. Hampshire Constabulary may ask them to undertake other duties, as required, which are not necessarily specified on the role profile but which are commensurate with the grade of the post. The role profile itself may be amended from time to time within the scope and general level of responsibility attached to the post. Additional Requirements Maintain personal responsibility for collection, recording, evaluation, information sharing, review, retention and disposal of information in compliance with codes of practice and Guidance in the Management of Information, Information Security Policy, procedures and legislation. May be called on to carry out fire warden duties to meet required standards if required. ROLE PROFILE Part2 CVF Recruitment Competencies We are Emotionally Aware Level 1 We Take Ownership Level 1 We Deliver, Support and Inspire Level 1 We Analyse Critically Level 1 Education/ Qualifications Essential: Educated to QCF Level 2 (3-5 passes including English and Maths) OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level. Desirable: QCF Level 3 qualification/further experience relevant to the role RSA 2 in Word Processing or typing or equivalent qualification. Experience and Skills Essential: At least 2 years of experience working in a busy office environment or in a field allied to the criminal justice system. To be computer literate and a competent keyboard user To have used and maintained complex record keeping systems. Desirable: Analytical or investigative work. Knowledge of Force organisation and structure and knowledge of the criminal justice system.
