Using appropriate historical research practices, you will write an analysis of how a technological change that occurred between the years 1400 - 1900 impacts our lives today. Dire Directions to students In a cohesive poster you will:  Provide a biography that explains who the inventor was, as well as the events and people in the inventor’s life that influenced and/or led to the development of the technology.  Provide an accurate and complete explanation of how the technology works .  Include 4 or more pict ures/images/illustrations that relate to the technology and its inventor  State a position on a historical question about the effects of a significant idea or technological development that outlines a reason(s) in support of the position.  Provide evidence for your position using two or more of the following social science perspectives (INSPECT categories) : • geographic • cultural • political • economic • social ( sociological ) • ideas ( psychological )  Provide reasons for your position that include: • An evaluation of how well 3 or more sources , including primary sources AND secondary sources, support your position.  Make explicit references within the p oster to 3 or more credible sources that provide relevant information AND cite sources within a bibliography • Note: Wikipedia is not a credible source for an academic research paper such as the CBA High School Recommended F or 10 t

Click on the Destiny Icon and at the top will be a tab that says CATALOG . Click on it and in the search box enter your search term. Always use KEYWORD first. (Remember to type in your search term first: Pianos, then click on KEYWORD.) We have pulled a lot of the books and have them on a cart, but it is always easier to know a title to look for before you start looking at the books. ALSO while you are in the CATALOG you can click on the WEBSITE TAB at the TOP RIGHT and that will give you another list of websites for your resear ch. Second Search: Technology Through the Ages Web Page Also on the Destiny Page there is a Link under BHS CBA and Social Studies Links called CBA - Technology Through the Ages - Under that link you will find a web page with links for

Remember: Wikipedia is not a credible source for an academic research paper such as the CBA Third Search: Net Trekker Also under the BHS CBA and Social Studies links is NetTrekker . NetTrekker is a database that is like an o nline encyclopedia. Click on the link and it will ask you for a user name and password. User name : bremerton Password: knights On the top left will be tabs for Elementary – Middle – High School. Make sure you click on the High School Tab or you might not get the information you need . Type your research subject into the search box and hit the “enter” key or click on the search icon. A list of sites and articles with links will come up, choose the one you want to read and click on it. ** For your Search Term try using: History of (and your topic). This will narrow and focus your results. Remember: Wikipedia is not a credible source for an academic research paper such as the CBA REMEMBER to keep a running list of the websites you have vi sited to include in your bibliography. HINT : sometimes at the bottom of the article they will cite the article for you, if they do, copy and paste this directly into your bibliography otherwise you will need the URL to paste into BibMe for your bibliograp hy. There is a link to BibMe on the CBA Technology Through the Ages web page . 5 It’s important that you keep a Bibliography of the sites you have looked at or used for your project. The best way to do this is to open a word document and use BibMe as you go. That way when you are finished you don’t have to recreate your research to find your sources. It will be finished and ready for you to turn in with your project! On the computer desktop click on the Destiny Icon. Scroll down and find WRITING RESOURCES , under this will be the BibMe Citation Maker , click on it. It

Choose the tab that is the correct one for your Bibliography source, click on that tab. Enter the data aske d for: for a website copy and paste the URL into the box. Click on the “SEAR/H” button on the right of the URL box. It will come up with a box under the SEARCH BOX with the title and URL of your sight, if it is correct, click on the “ SELE/T” Button on the right. bext a window will come up telling you what the site found. If it is correct, click on the “/hbTIbUE Th FIbAL STEt” Button at the bottom of the window. On the next window BIBME will fill in the information about your article. You may have to add s omething like an author, publisher or a date. Make sure you will in as much information as you can. When you are finished filling in the information, click on the “Save /itation” button at the bottom. You will see, on the right hand side of the page , the information you entered come up. Now all you have to do is select this citation and copy and paste this information into the word document you have created for your Bibliography. Once you copy and paste this information onto your Bibliography page you need to get it into the correct MLA format.
