Overview
In these 15 pages, Alberto and Guevara visited medical centres, Leprosy Hospitals and the San Pablo Leper Colony. Throughout their experiences in this section of the
book, Guevara
discovers that the Leprosy afflicted people not only need medical attention and assistance but also crave the common courtesies that many doctors now disregard. These courtesies may include simply talking with the patients. The pair are ravaged by mosquitoes on their travels up the river. “…attacking us in swarms throughout the night.”
Guevara struggles with his asthma throughout this section, becoming incapacitated on several occasions. “…passed out in bed, rather “adrenalizing myself.””
In their travels at this point in their journey they struggle considerably with money.
“…diligent tears we wept whenever there was any mention of money.”Slide3
