License Description: DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Physical Therapist Assistant assists physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Personal requirements: 1) Be at least 18 years of age. 2) Be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. Education requirements: Graduate from a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) accredited physical therapy program. EXAMINATIONS: National Physical Therapist Exam (NPTE) of the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). FEES: In 2021, pay $300 (application $50, license $85, compliance resolution fund $100, ½ renewal for 2nd year of 2-year license $65). In 2022, pay $185 (application $50, license $85, compliance resolution fund $50). OTHER: There were 293 licenses currently active as of February 17, 2021. ~ revised 05/19
