Scheme of Studies – Secondary School Examination for academic session Class IX 201 4 - 1 5 and Class X 201 5 - 1 6 Part 1 – Scholastic Areas – Academic Performance: Sub I & Sub II Any two prescribed languages as per Scheme of Studies (Out of the two languages one shall be English or Hindi) Sub III, Sub IV & Sub V Mathematics, Science & Social Science Sub VI – Under NSQF A candidate may offer any one subje ct from Group - A Vocational under National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) , if desired Sub VII - Additional Subject (optional) A candidate may offer any one additional subject optional either language or from Group - B or Group - C , if desired . Sub ject f rom Group - C is permitted only if Sub VI from Group - A has not been opted. Schools who are interested to offer Skill based vocational courses at Secondary level (Class IX/ X) may opt vocational subjects under National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). Vocational subject from Group - A may be offered as c ompulsory 6 th subject in cla ss IX and X, wherein curriculum of five regular academic subjects are specially designed, so as to accommodate this course under N SQF . In this case the CGPA for class IX and X for such students will be calculated considering the grade/ marks obtained in all the six subject s. I n addition to CCE certificate Board will also issue National Certificate for Work Preparation of respective Industry Sector Skill Council. OR Vocational subject from Group - C may be offered as 7 th Additi onal Optional subject along with the existing five regular academic subjects of secondary level of same curriculum. Candidate with Learning Disabilities may offer : English or Hindi and any four out of - Mathematics , Science, Social Science, Other o ne/ two Languages (s), Commerce (154 - ELEM. SANSKRIT Any One Any One Any One Any One Any One Any One Any One Any One Page 5 of 9 Conduct of Problem Solving Assessment (PSA) f or classes IX & XI and for Improvement of Performance in Classes X & XII for the academic session - 2014 - 15 With the objectives of assessing students‟ abilities to analyse given life situations, to comprehend and interpret written text and other essential higher order thinking skills, the Board conducted its 1 st Problem Solving Assessment (PSA) on 16th February, 2013. The initiative has been widely accepted and appreciated by all the stakeholders Similar Problem Solving Assessment for classes IX and XI an d for Improvement of Performance in Classes X & XII for the academic session 2014 - 15 will be held on  20 th Novmber 2014 (Thurusday) from 10.00 AM to 12.00 Noon  The examination shall be conducted in the school itself.  Candidate shall appear against their R egistration No. Note : Two Handbooks titled PROBLEM SOLVING ASSESSMENT , CBSE - CAER Publication, for Class IX & XI follow the formats of the PSA conducted in 2013 to provide students an opportunity to become familiar with the design of the test and acqui re hands on experience of solving such items. The Handbooks contain a pool of questions designed to improve the generic and higher order thinking skills of the students under the three major domains. The handbooks are available in the Regional Offices of t he Board. The cost of each handbook is Rs. 100/ - . Salient features of this test are as follows:  It will be compulsory for all students of classes IX and XI.  It will comprise of a total of 60 items of MCQ type and will carry 60 ma rks.  The test will asse ss life skills related to the following three domains: Language conventions, Qualitative Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning  The item s included in the test aim students‟ ability to process, interpret and use information rather than assessing their prior subject matter knowledge.  The assessment in English and Hindi include items to test grammar, usage, vocabulary in context and passage completion.  The items will be prepared in Hindi as well as in English.  Students studying in class X and XII in the cur rent session (who appeared in PSA while studyin g in classes IX and XI during the previous session) who wish to improve in PSA are allowed to do so. Related information may be indicated clearly at the time of submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) for 2 015 annual examination.  There will be no sepa rate registration for appearing in PSA. Medium of Question Paper of Problem Solving Assessment (PSA): The test booklet s for the PSA for Classes IX will consist of the following: Domain No of Questions All Multiple choice questions. On - line submission shall be closed after last date and no entry shall be accepted after the la st date . In the interest of their own students, Schools are advised to start submitting details on - line as per Instructions given on the website www.cbse.nic.in and take necessary steps so that computer generated deta ils along with the proof of successful fee remittance reach Regional Office before the last dates and to avoid the possibility of dis - connection / inability / failure to log on to the Board‟s website on account of heavy load on internet / website. 6. Receipt of final List of Registered Students shall be acknowledged by the Regional Office only after successful remittance of fee as per the schedule given on the web - site. The following Steps 1 to 11 may be followed in sequence for online submission of details . Registration of Schools: The affiliated sc hools that are to submit details of students are required to register themselves before submission of details of students for Registration. a. Schools shall register using „Affiliation Number‟ as User - Id and the password which they used last year for onl ine submission of Class IX/X/XI and XII data. b. The newly affiliated schools will register using “Affiliation No„ as User - Id and password as communicated through a confidential letter by the respective Regional Officers. c. While registering Schools are adv ised to change the password and the changed password may be noted for future use and keep it confidential to avoid misuse. 2. Updation of School Details: Any correction in School details such as Principal Name, Phone Number, Experience, School website, valid Email address for future communications, Name of person(s) along with designation, authorized to submit students‟ details online should be updated. Also provide Number of Candidates studying in Classes IX in the school during 2014 - 15 . Note : These details should be provided correctly as these cannot be changed later. 3. Login : a. Only Registered schools are permitted to login. b. After successful registration, Schools shall login using „Affiliation Number‟ as U ser - Id and Password , in case the school has changed the password then use „changed password‟ . 4. Updation of Teacher Training Details : This option can be used to give mandatory details about the teacher training details in the schools. The d etails can be filled only once and hence should be done carefully. The printed hardcopy of the details should be submitted along with Final List in the concerned Regional Office. 5. Preparing Details of Students for Registration: Note :  The mobile numbe r and E - Mail id on which the candidate can be contacted may be given.  UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES THE SCHOOLS SHOULD CHANGE THE FORMAT OF EXCEL FILE OTHERWISE THE STUDENTS DATA WILL NOT BE UPLOADED PROPERLY‟  THE SCHOOLS ARE ALLOWED TO UPLOAD THE DATA THROUGH EXCEL FILE ONE TIME ONLY . THERE AFTER ADDITIONS , CORRECTIONS AND DELETIONS , IF ANY , CAN BE MADE ONLINE ONLY . a. In order to facilitate smooth data entry/ uploading and due to irregular internet connectivity in some of the schools as reported last year, the Board has introduced offline data entry facility in a specifically designed excel file for the purpose. The schools are requested to download the excel file by clicking the option „Download Excel File‟ . Page 8 of 9 b. After complete entries of the data in ex cel file and thorough checking , the same may be uploaded by clicking „Upload Excel File‟ option. c. The schools shall submit carefully and meticulously the details of each student enrolled during academic session 2 014 - 15 in Class IX as per the details available in the Admission and Withdrawal register of the School. d. The date on which the student‟s details are finalised shall determine the fee to be paid by the school and shall be generated automatically by the computer. 6. Check List Printing of Registered Students: a. Schools shall take a list of the details of students submitted by choosing the option “Check list Printing of Registered Students” using a printer attached with the school‟s computer. b. The printer s ettings may be set for A4 size paper with Landscape printing with all side margins set to 0.25”. c. The heading of this List will be „CHECK LIST OF STUDENTS REGISTERED FOR CLASS…‟ d . The details in the list may be compared with the Original Admission and W ithdrawal register. Subject Code and Subject Name offered by each student should also be checked. e. When all corrections including spelling mistakes have b een noted down, correction have to be carried out online by choosing option “Correction of Registere d List of Students” . 7 Correction of Registered List of Students: This activity has three options ADD, MODIFY, DELETE.  ADD : Details of any left out students/ new students can be submitted.  MODIFY : Correction in the already submit ted details of the student can be updated/ modified/corrected. The Record No. printed against the student‟s details is typed and the student‟s details shall be displayed on the screen. Required updation/ correction/ modification can be typed against the particular details.  DELETE : Already submitted details of the student can be removed from the list completely by typing the Record No. printed against the student‟s detail whose details are to be removed from the list. Student‟s details shall be displayed on the screen before deletion. Details once deleted can not be recovered and has to be re - entered if needed again by using ADD option. Note : Option - 6 “Checklist Printing of Registered Students” and Option - 7 “Correction of Registered List of Students” may be repeated any number of times till the list is error - free. 8 Finalisation of Data: a. When all corrections including spelling mistakes in candidate/mother/father name have been carried out and the list is error free, f inalisation of data be done. b. Finalization of data means no more correction /deletion /modification of data which have been submitted which implying thereby d ata submitted is final. c. After finalization of data, the requisite fee is to be deposited electronically as per available modes of payment . Fee shall be applicable as per fee schedule i.e. the date on which the data is finalized is taken for account for fee calculation i.e.  If students‟ details are entered by 2 3 th September and finalization of data is done on 2 3 th Septemb er then NO late fee shall be applicable.  If students‟ details are entered by 30 th September and finalization of data is done on 30 th September then NO late fee shall be applicable.  If students‟ details are entered by 15 th September and finalization of da ta is done on 1 st October then late fee of Rs.10/ - for each candidate shall be applicable. c. A ddition of more students is possible in the next lot provided the date of submission of details is within the time schedule and fee shall be remitted as per fee sc hedule . d. A school can add students in maximum 5 lots. Page 9 of 9 9 Payment of Fee through electronic mode (s) – ( Through Demand Draft for Foreign Schools only ) : The fee may be submitted using following modes: a. E - Challan: An e - challan is generated through CBSE website containing relevant details of the school . Schoo l can then visit designated SYNDICATE/ HDFC/ ICICI Bank Branch es and deposit challan & payment across counter along with cash . The Payment are accepted only after successful validation of the school details at the counter, which would be ensured through inte gration between Bank and CBSE portal. b. E - Collection (RTGS/NEFT ) : School visits the CBSE website for making payment of fee and select NEFT/RTGS as a mode of payment and bank ( SYNDICATE/ HDFC/ICICI Bank) . Website generates a challan for that particular payme nt with Amount and a unique challan number . School has the convenience to remit funds through its own bank branch. c. Schools of foreign countries can pay fee through Bank Draft drawn in favour of " Secretary CBSE Syndicate Bank Saving Bank Account No. 90922160000018 " payable at Delhi. School No., School Name and Address, Principal name and phone number should be written on the back of the Demand Draft. 10 Printing of Final List of Registration of Students: a. Schools shall take Final l ist of students submitted. Final list can not be generated without submission of fee details. b. The heading of this List will be „FINAL LIST OF STUDENTS REGISTERED FOR CLASS___‟ . c. Once Final list is generated, no more addition, deletions or corrections can be made on this data. d. The printer settings may be set for A4 size paper with Landscape printing with all side margins set to 0.25” e. The Schools shall firmly affix recent high contrast passport size preferably black & white photograph of the stude nts which clearly indicates the name of the student along with the date of taking the photograph (photograph should have been taken on or after 1.4.2014) with gum/adhesive (not to be pinned or stapled) in the space provided against student‟s information an d obtain signature of the student in the space earmarked for it. f. A photocopy of the Final printout with Student‟s signature and photograph should be retained by the School as office copy. 11 Submission of Details to Regional Office by Post /by hand : Fi nal List with student‟s signature and photograph along with proof of successful payment and duly filled and signed Certificate of Principal should reach the concerned „ Director/Regional Director/ Regional Officer‟ , of the Respective Regional Office of the B oard within stipulated schedule given above.
