No yelling, whistling etc. during or after performances. Performers must observe Theatre Etiquette and cover costumes when in the Theatre Audience.No entry to the Theatre whilst performers are on stage. Inappropriate behaviour towards volunteers and committee members will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification. The Orange Regional Arts Foundation supports and encourages a wide variety of arts related activities and projects in the region (including the City of Orange Eisteddfod). As part of its successful and continued involvement the Foundation is actively seeking new members to become patrons of the arts and to support its expanding commitment. This competition is open to Amateurs only. ie people who do not derive their major income from ENTRIES: In 2015 entries will be made on-line at www.stardom.com.auIf you have difficulties with on-line entries please contact us for help. An on-line admin fee will be $5 per invoice. Method of payment will be credit/debit card only. Manual entries may be sent to Entry Secretary. PO Box 8556, Orange. NSW 2800 accompanied by cheque or money order for entry fee. 3. No entries will be accepted or recorded unless accompanied by full entry fee. 4. No refund will be made for an entry fee paid after the entry has been accepted. 5. In all competitions which are subject to an age limit, The Committee reserves the right to call upon any competitor at any time to provide a copy of his/her Birth Certificate and can withhold any prize until certificate has been is a competitor living in an area with a 2800 postcode.means never having won a first prize in tcompetition up to the closing date of entries. (This refers to the title of the section, not the ) Competitors eligible are permitted to enter Restricted or Open sections, or both, but must not repeat the same routine/piece.8. In all sections where 2 or more are competing, the name and date of birth of each competitor must be given at the time of entry, except in the case of groups. 9. Competitors must not have been pupils of the adjudicator in the 6 months prior to the Eisteddfod. 10. Entrants are responsible for royalty and copyright payments and liabilities if any. Competitors enter at their own risk. 12. Notification of appearance is not given by mail unless a program is ordered on entering. NB. For on-line entries programs may be ordered from the EXTRAS menu or may be downloaded from Orange Eisteddfod website – www.orangeisteddfod.com 13. All care has been taken in the compilation of the Syllabus and Program and the Committee reserves the right to rectify any errors or omissions.Please check receipt of entries carefully and rectify errors or omissions immediately, as no 15. The Committee reserves the right to amend the program at any time, to appoint a substitute or additional adjudicator, to divide or combine any sections or to alter competition times. 16. No competitor may compete more than once in any one section unless specific rules apply.17. Competitors must be ready to take their place on the stage at the appointed time and in the order set 18. No person may take another person’s place in the program.19. No medals are to be worn on stage.20. No rehearsals are allowed on the stage of any venue during the Eisteddfod.21. Please note that the use of inappropriate material in performances could lead to disqualification by the 22. No videos or photographs are to be taken of any performance with the exception of the official photographers. This includes the use of mobile phones, ipods and tablets.23. All mobile phones are to be switched off in all venues during performances.24. Audience members are asked not to enter or leave the venue while competitors are performing. Adjudication 25. The decision of the adjudicator is final unless a protest is lodged. Protests must be in writing, setting out full details of the protest and accompanied by a deposit of $20. If the protest is not upheld the deposit is Verbal grievances/complaints to individual Committee members, volunteers or other parents are not in the spirit of the Eisteddfod competition and will not be tolerated and could lead to exclusion from any further participation in the Eisteddfod. 27. The Adjudicator has the authority of the Committee to withhold or alter any prize which he/she is of the opinion that sufficient merit has not been displayed. A report sheet from the Adjudicator will be available free of charge for competitors in each section. 29. If any competitor, teacher or parent approaches the Adjudicator before or during any section, the competitor may be disqualified. 30. All electrical equipment brought into the performancprior to the Eisteddfod and have a current electrical tag in place. Any electrical equipment not meeting the Workplace Health and Safety guidelines will not be allowed to be used. 31. The Committee reserves the right to use the competitor’s details in the compilation of the program, including photographs for publicity purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed, it is the competitor’s (or carer’s) responsibility to notify a member of Orange Eisteddfod Committee. The motto of our Eisteddfod is ‘Learn and Grow Through Performance’ and we aim to provide a supportive and encouraging environment where competitors can achieve their best. RESTRICTED means never having won a in that section at any age at any previous Eisteddfod up to the closing date of entries. ALL EQUIPMENT MUST BE MOVED FROM THE STAGE AREA AT THE CONCLUSION OF EACH If there are fewer than three (3) competitors in any section, the section may be cancelled or combined with the next age group or a similar section. • Please leave DRESSING ROOMS and GREENROOM tidy. No responsibility will be taken for lost or od office for lost property. • Groups who are not competing in the current section called will not be allowed in the Green Room due to the congestion it causes. • Spraying of shoes within the Theatre is PROHIBITED. • Prompting, except by the adjudicator, will not be permitted. • Presentation of prizes will be on stage for Major prizes – Championships, Scholarships and trophy awards. All other prizes are to be collected from the Eisteddfod office following adjudication – ie report sheets, medals, monies, certificates. system. Please ensure all CDS are CDRs. The sound system at the Civic Theatre must be used for playing of all CDs. The Committee will provide a competent person to play music. Each dance must be on a separate CD. Please ensure a backup copy is available. • All CDs are to be clear and audible, CLEARLY MARKED with competitor’s name, dance school and NUMBER AND COMPETITOR’S NUMBER. • CDs are to be handed in to the GREENROOM AREA at least 2 sections before competing. Any specific instructions must be attached and explicit. Please leave CDs in cases. It is the competitor’s responsibility to hand in music on time and collect it after performance. Please note that the use of inappropriate lyrics, costuming or dance movements in routines, could lead to disqualification by the adjudicator. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT: All electrical equipment brought into the Eisteddfod venues must be checked by a certified electrician prior to the Eisteddfod and have a current electrical tag in place. Any electrical equipment not meeting the Workplace Health and Safety guidelines will not be allowed to be used. This includes CD players, hair dryers and curlers.A CODE OF CONDUCT WILL APPLY TO ALL WHO ATTEND the Eisteddfod. No yelling, whistling costumes when in Theatre audience. Inappropriate behaviour towards volunteers and Committee Members will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification. PHOTOGRAPHY: KEA Video producers will be in attendance for the Dancing Sections of the eisteddfod and Winki-Pop Media will be available to take still photographs. Videos may be ordered by filling in an order form (from program), ringing on 63604662 or Still Photographs: All group performances will be photographed. For soloists, please register to have your photographs taken on stage by visiting www.winkipopmedia.com.au. Then click on Orange Eisteddfod in gallery. Orders need to be completed no later than Monday 27 July, 2015. NO VIDEO OR PHOTOGRAPHS ARE TO BE TAKEN AT THE PERFORMANCE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHERS. This includes the use of mobile phones, ipads or tablets. PLEASE NOTE: When signing or agreeing to the declaration when entering, you are giving The City of Orange Eisteddfod Committee permission to reproduce any information necessary for compilation of the program including photos for publicity purposes. After the set time has elapsed, the music will be faded, adjudication will cease at this point and the competitor must bow and exit the stage. Disqualification will only take place if this rule is not adhered to. The committee is aware that CD players play at different speeds and have taken this into consideration. will be awarded to competitors in various age divisions chosen by the adjudicator, for Encouragement, Consistency and Most Promising Dancers. POINTSCORE TROPHIES - in all age divisions. Pointscore Trophies are awarded on the basis of 8 points – 1; 5 points – 2; & 1 point - H.C. * Orange Pointscore Trophies to be awarded to a local dancer (2800 postcode) who is a permanent pupil of an Orange Dance School – i) 12yrs & under and ii) 13yrs & over. Regency Jewellers donate a $50 Gift Voucher DANCE SCHOOL POINTSCORE TROPHIES.* Central West Performing Arts - 12yrs & under and 13yrs & over (restricted sections also included). & over (restricted sections also included). SPECIAL AWARDS a male classical dancer. (* Lyndi Walley Shield for Senior Groups (13 yrs and over) will be awarded to the best overall Classical Group . Cox Family Shield for Junior Groups (12 yrs and under) will be awarded to the best overall Classical Group. * Schools’ Group Trophies will be awarded to Small Schools; Infants K-2; Primary 3-6; Secondary & Special * Garry Stocks Perpetual Trophy for most promising Tap Dancer – 13yrs & over. * Damon Griffiths Perpetual Trophy to winner of Open Tap Championship. * Betty Callaghan Memorial Trophy to best overall Entertaining/Song & Dance competitor, 13 yrs & over . (Donated by Quota Club) * Collins Family Trophy- awarded for consistent effort by a senior competitor. Groups Sections. Jazz Championships Dancers entering the Jazz Championship must have entered and danced in their own age section in at least two of the following: Jazz, Cabaret, Hip Hop solos or Jazz Impro. Competitors in each championship are to perform one jazz routine. National Character Championships Dancers entering the National Character Championship must have entered and danced in the National Character section in their own age section. Competitors in each championship are to perform one National Character routine.Modern Championships Dancers entering the Modern Championship must have entered and danced in their own age section in two of the following: Modern Expressive solo, Contemporary, Modern Expressive Improvisation. Competitors in each championship are to perform a Modern Exp. and a Contemporary routine.• Time Limits for ALL Championships – up to 3.5mins. Competitors to perform 2 contrasting routines - these routines may be repeated. 124 Scott Camery Welding Intermediate Local Scholarship – any aspect of Dance 13yrs and 14yrs ($400) Entry Fee: $9 To qualify, competitors must enter and perform in any 3 own age sections - any style of Dance. Competitors to perform 2 contrasting routines - these routines may be repeated. 125 Kingfisher School Gear Senior Local Scholarship – any aspect of Dance - 15yrs & over ($600) Entry Fee: $11 To qualify, competitors to enter and perform in any 4 own age sections - any style of Dance. Competitors to perform 2 contrasting routines - these routines may be repeated. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: Winners of previous Scholarships are ineligible to enter the same section. However if a competitor has won a lower age Scholarship, they may enter in the next age scholarship when of eligible age. Prize money to be used for further tuition at an Orange Dance School. Competitors will perform in the scheduled allocated time for identification to the adjudicator. Time limit appropriate to own age section. MEMORIAL BALLET SCHOLARSHIP 126 Ballet Scholarship Co-Sponsored by Newcrest Mining’s Cadia Valley Operations and Orange Regional Arts Foundation. Major Prize: $2,000 for winner of Scholarship – Open to competitors entered in 13yrs & over sectionsEntry Fee - $20 CONDITIONS OF ENTRY Previous winners of the Betty Keirnan Memorial Ballet Scholarship are ineligible to enter. The adjudicator will conduct a closed class on the stage of the Orange Civic Theatre. Plain coloured leotard and ballet tights, pointe and flat shoes will be required. (Short sheer ballet skirts are permissible). Finalists will be chosen from this class ff. Competitors are to perform (a) one classical and (b) a choice of either a Demi-Character or a Modern Expressive – routines may be repeated. Competitors must have entered and performed in their Ballet Championship. The adjudicator may withhold the prize money if he/she feels the standard is not high enough. Time limit – up to 4mins for each routine. This award is to further competitors study at a major dance studio. McDONALDS ORANGE JAZZ SCHOLARSHIP 127 Jazz Scholarship - 13yrs & over ($1000)Major Prize: $1000 for winner of Scholarship - Open to competitors entered in 13yrs & over sectionsEntry Fee - $15 CONDITIONS OF ENTRY Previous winners of the Jazz Scholarship are ineligible to enter. The Adjudicator will conduct a closed class on the stage of the Orange Civic Theatre (plain coloured one piece leotard to be worn – jazz shorts allowed). Finalists will be chosen from this class to compete in the Jazz Scholarship Dance-off. Competitors are to perform two contrasting Jazz routines – these routines may be repeated. (These may include Jazz, Cabaret, Contemporary) Competitors must enter and perform in the Jazz Championship. The adjudicator may withhold the prize money if he/she feels the standard is not high enough. Time limit – up to 4mins for each routine. This award is to further the competitor’s study at a major dance studio. The Adjudicator will conduct a closed class on the stage of the Orange Civic Theatre (plain coloured one piece leotard to be worn – jazz shorts allowed). Finalists will be chosen from this class to compete in Tap Scholarship Dance-off. Cocontrasting Tap routines – these routines may be repeated Competitors must enter and perform in the Tap Championship. The adjudicator may withhold the prize money if he/she feels the standard is not high enough. Time limit – up to 4mins for each routine. This award is to further the competitor’s study at a major dance studio. Tap Scholarship may be cancelled if insufficient entries.
