SCOTT MILDER Scott Milder, a resident of Rockwall since the summer of 2001, was elected to the Rockwall City Council in May 2013. He and his wife Leslie have three children proudly enrolled in the Rockwall Independent School District attending Williams Middle School and Grace Hartman Elementary. Scott and his family are members of Lake Pointe Church and are involved with its International Missions work, making four trips to Egypt since 2009. Scott is also heavily involved in youth sports, coaching his daughter’s volleyball team at the YMCA and the RISE, assisting with her RGSA softball team, and coaching his son’s baseball team. Scott and his wife Leslie, a Texas certified high school teacher, are the founders of Friends of Texas Public Schools, a 501c(3) nonprofit organization committed to educating Texans about the strengths and achievements of Texas public schools… and there are plenty! The Milders founded Friends in 2004 in response to the incessant, Often times mean-spirited criticism leveled against Texas public schools with little recognition for their accomplishments, such as achieving the highest graduation rates in America. His professional experience includes serving as the public information officer in the Galena Park Independent School District, media relations director for the Mesquite Independent School District, and as a newspaper reporter and photographer in Southern California. Scott is currently a partner with SHW Group, an international architectural firm dedicated exclusively to the design of learning environments, including all of Rockwall schools since the mid-1990s. His primary area of responsibility is assisting school leaders with the facilitation of community-driven bond election planning public relations, and election campaign services. Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s degree in public relations from the University of North Texas in Denton.
