17. European Federation of GeologistsEFG and PERCPERC define standards :for public reporting by minerals companies; of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources, and Mineral Reserves17

18. European Federation of GeologistsEFG / PERC - Competent Persons Requirements: Membership in a RPO (EFG, IoM3, GSL, IGI or other recognised professional organisation) that:requires compliance with professional and ethical standardshas disciplinary powers, including the power to expel a memberMin. 5 years relevant experience; The principle of self-certification;The principle of peer review.18

20. European Federation of GeologistsEuroGeologist‘s International Recognition20

21. European Federation of GeologistsSituation in the past: Learning from older colleagues or by experience,Every country, even every company had its own regulations,Different languages.21

22. European Federation of GeologistsBre-X and others:“Poseidon Bubble”1970-1971Ni prices Australia22

23. European Federation of GeologistsImplementation of Codes and Standards:23

24. European Federation of GeologistsUnited Nations Framework Classification for Fossil Energy and Mineral Reserves and Resources 2009 (UNFC-2009)Applicable for:Mineral resourcesOil & gasGeothermal energySolar energyWind energyGeological storage24

25. European Federation of GeologistsToday‘s Situation:Most countries adopt one of the CRIRSCO codes,All companies relying on international stock exchanges follow the codes,World-wide professional training based on common languageAnd still learning from the older colleague.25

26. European Federation of GeologistsMy Experience:Learning from older colleaguges is good, butDifferent people, different company traditions, different resource codes and different country regulations may lead to a Babylonian confusion and possibly wrong results.Using organisations like EFG & PERC combines personal learning with generally accepted rules.26

27. European Federation of GeologistsWorking world-wide in international cooperationAll CPs, working under CRIRSCO, do speak a similar language,Use similar procedures and Share the same responsibility.27

28. European Federation of GeologistsChoosing the right standard – advantage of using PERC in EuropePERC is recognized by ESMA for use on European Union stock exchanges (ESMA = European Securities and Markets Authority).Accepted on a number of other stock exchanges around the world (e.g. Canada, Singapore, Australia).Assistance and training available near-by and in the same time zoneThe EuroGeologist with relevant experience is a world-wide accepted Competent Person.28

29. European Federation of GeologistsAdvantage of Working under Code:All CRIRSCO-aligned standards follow the same principles and share an identical set of core definitions.Differences because different jurisdictions, different markets. Specifies how and by whom public reports should be prepared.PERC standard require all publicly declared resources to have reasonable prospects for eventual economic extraction (i.e. NO “pie in the sky” – NOT an inventory of all mineralization regardless of economics)Short and medium term planning should use resources and reserves reported under CRIRSCO standards as a solid and reliable basis29
