Dr. King said, “Tell them not to mention that I have a Nobel Peace Prizethat isn’t important. Tell them not to mention that I have three or four hundred other awards that’s not important. Tell them not to mention where I went to school. I’d like somebody to mention that day that Martin Luther King, Jr. tried to give his life serving others. I’d like for somebody to say that day that Martin Luther King, Jr. tried to love somebody…”We want to know what the word ‘legacy’ means to you. What do you want your legacy to be and how do you want others to remember you?Criteria:To be eligible for nomination, a teacher, parent or nonprofit community organization must submit a nomination form outlining examples of the student’s character and serviceto othersNominations will be reviewed for completeness as a condition of selection.Nominees will be required to submit a typedessaynot more than 500 words, on what he/she would like their legacy to beHow they would like to be remembered at their school, at their organization, by their peers, etc.Judging will be based on the writing rubric guidelines used in FCAT and FCAT 2.0 writing.
