Living the

D-Life

Mark 3:13-15

Lesson 1

Slide3

What is your purpose?

Slide4

What is your purpose?

According to Jesus, it is

one

main thing.

Slide5

What is your purpose?

According to Jesus, it is

one

main thing.

It’s

two

words.

Slide6

What is your purpose?

According to Jesus, it is

one

main thing.

It’s

two

words.

Your purpose is to

MAKE

DISCIPLES

.

Slide7

The

problem

is that disciple-making is

not a strength for most Christians or churches. This should greatly concern us.

Slide8

A Couple of Concerns

There is a common

misconception

about discipleship.

Slide9

A Couple of Concerns

There is a common

misconception

about discipleship.

We need a process of

multiplication

for discipleship.

Slide10

Jesus modeled this process for us.

Living the D-Life

means living

a lifestyle of disciple-making

—anytime and anywhere.

Slide11

The Main Thought…

Disciple-making is

not

a program; it’s a lifestyle.

Slide12

Mark 3:13-15

And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those whom He desired, and they came to Him. And He appointed

twelve

so

that they might be with Him and He might send them out to preach and have authority to cast out demons.

Slide13

Disciple-making is our supreme purpose in life (v. 13).

For Jesus, disciple-making

was a first priority

.

Slide14

Making disciples is Christ-like.

Disciple-making is our

supreme

purpose in life (v. 13).

Slide15

Making disciples is Christ-like.Making disciples is commanded.

Disciple-making is our

supreme

purpose in life (v. 13).

Slide16

Matthew 4:19

And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you

fishers of men

.”

Slide17

Matthew 28:18-20

All

authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and

make disciples

of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I

have

commanded you. And behold, I am

with

you always, to the end of the age

.

Slide18

The Great Commission

is

not

a great suggestion.

Slide19

For Jesus, disciple-making was a simple process. For three years, Jesus poured His life into His discipleship group (D-Group) of twelve men.

Disciple-making has a

simple

process to follow (v. 14).

Slide20

For us, a D-Group could be as small as three to five people who meet anytime and anywhere for intentional discipleship. A group of no more than eight is best for our success.

A D-Group

Slide21

By reading the Gospels, we learn there are

six practices

of disciple-making that Jesus modeled for us with His D-Group.

Slide22

The 6 Practices of D-Life

Fellowship

Jesus called His disciples to come and

have intimate fellowship with Him.

Slide23

The 6 Practices of D-Life

FellowshipTeaching

Jesus taught His disciples using stories

and interactive group discussions.

Slide24

The 6 Practices of D-Life

FellowshipTeachingPrayer

Jesus prayed with His disciples

and taught them how to pray.

Slide25

The 6 Practices of D-Life

FellowshipTeachingPrayer

Ministry

Jesus did ministry with His disciples and

sent them out for ministry and evangelism.

Slide26

The 6 Practices of D-Life

FellowshipTeachingPrayer

MinistryMultiplication

Jesus equipped His disciples to be disciple-makers and called them to go make disciples.

Slide27

The 6 Practices of D-Life

FellowshipTeachingPrayer

MinistryMultiplicationAccountability

Jesus held His disciples accountable to

these six practices of disciple-making.

Slide28

John 13:15

For

I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you

.

Slide29

For Jesus, disciple-making was transformational.Powerful spiritual transformation can occur through the loving accountability of D-Groups.

Disciple-making has the spiritual

power to transform lives (v. 15).

Slide30

John 14:12

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and

greater works

than these will he do, because I am going to the Father

.

Slide31

Disciple-making is the

greater

work

.”

Slide32

A Father, a Son, and a

33

Slide33

It is time for us to do our job and

to

equip

and

empower

God’s people for a global grassroots disciple-making movement.

Slide34

What is your part?

How can you live out your

supreme purpose

in life?

Slide35

First, you must be a follower of Christ. Jesus said,

“Follow me.”

Jesus invites you to follow Him.

Slide36

If you are a follower of Christ,

Jesus said,

“I will make you

fishers of men.”

If you are not fishing for men,

you are not following Jesus.

Slide37

Believe that you can live a lifestyle of disciple-making.

Your part is two-fold:

Slide38

Believe that you can live a lifestyle of disciple-making.Be equipped and empowered for a lifestyle of disciple-making.

Your part is two-fold:

Slide39

This is the purpose for D-Life training.

I

pray that you will set aside every distraction and fully devote yourself to training for your supreme purpose in life.
