Federal Polytechnic,

What

Structure
is the way in which something is organized, built or put together to achieve results/goals.
The
overall structure of
Akanu
Ibiam
Federal Polytechnic,
Unwana
(as depicted in figure 1) is broken into two, the
Management structure

Management
Structure
The
Management structure and functions as stated in Decree No. 33(as amended) confers legal status on the Governing Council of the Institution and the Rector, the management / running of the Institution. The Council concerns itself with purely policy matters only whereas the day to day administration and management is entrusted in the Rector. The Rector is the “Chief Academic and Administrative Officer” of the Polytechnic. In order to realize the discharge of his responsibilities the Rector is adequately assisted by a number of Management staff; Deputy Rectors, (Registrar, Bursar, Polytechnic Librarian - core Management staff), Deans of school; Directors etc.Slide5

It
would be recalled that the first set of the one hundred and seventy – eight(178) students were in May 1982 admitted into National diploma
programmes in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Business Administration and Management and Secretarial Studies (now Office Technology and Management). These four (4) Departments under two (2) Schools served as pioneer Departments and Schools of this “great Poly Unwana” and later on we witnessed tremendous progress.Slide9
THE
NEED FOR THE STRUCTURE AND IT FUNCTIONS FOR THE POLYTECHNIC NEWLY EMPLOYED STAFF
As
“beginners” in the system, there is absolute need for you to study very well the organogram of the Polytechnic as depicted in figures 1-3 of this lecture. You are equally expected to as a matter of urgency begin to put them into practice as hardly will any work - day goes by without you coming into personal or official contacts with the offices and their Heads. I urge you all to look out for the Instruments that established and nurtured this great Institution, examples; the Decree No. 33 and as amended; the Polytechnic Strategic Plan. (2002- 205) and the Staff Manual. These
documents will likely broaden your knowledge and more understanding of the structure and functions of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana.Slide10
