Guidelines have been established to prevent, screen, and treat retinopathy of prematurity. Two types of treatment are cryosurgery and retinal laser ablation. It is important that units where premature neonates are taken care of incorporate an oxygen-weaning plan to prevent retinopathy of prematurity.
