SOVA provides free groceries and supportive services to over 10,000 individuals of all ages, ethnicities and religions each month from three comprehensive service centers in the Los Angeles area. SOVA offers sustenance, counseling, advocacy and the opportunity for volunteerism. Temple Sinai of Glendale has a SOVA collection barrel at the parking lot entrance hall, and we encourage everyone to bring non-perishable foods and supplies every time they come to temple. In addition, we have special food drives during the High Holy Days, during December, and at our Purim carnival, where kids can earn tickets by bringing food for SOVA. The contents of the barrel are picked up regularly, and we remind everyone that the need now is even greater than it has been in the past.
