Prophecy of JesusThe God of conflict (enmity) – ill will on one side or both; hatred; especially mutual antagonism

The serpent is attempting to do two things:

Seduce Adam and Eve away from the worship of GodWin their allegiance and worship for himself

From Curse to Blessing

Genesis 3:15Slide3

Prophecy of JesusEnmity #1 – Eve’s hatred of SatanSatan already hated Eve.

Satan accomplished only his first objective.

We now have a hatred of sin! Why?

We like sin but want to escape the consequences!

God makes sin and the consequences miserable. We want hell to be happy, but it is not!

From Curse to Blessing

Genesis 3:15Slide4

Prophecy of JesusEnmity #2 – The hatred of Eve’s offspring for Satan’s offspring

Not between humans and demons

Language moves from general to specific.Godly descendants influenced by God and the ungodly descendants influenced by Satan

Later in Genesis, God calls out Israel, and Satan has animosity toward her (

birth of anti-Semitism) – Revelation 12:1-5.

From Curse to Blessing

Genesis 3:15Slide5

Revelation 12:1-5 (NASB)1  A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; 2

and she was with child; and she cried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth.

3  Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads

were

seven diadems. Slide6

4  And his tail swept away a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child.5

And she gave birth to a son, a male

child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up to God and to His throne. Slide7

Prophecy of JesusEnmity #3 – specific seed of the woman – Jesus; Satan’s seed – the antichrist

Prophecy of JesusTwo victoriesThe bruising of Christ at the cross

The crushing of Satan in the final judgment

Satan’s only true power comes from working within the confines and construct of God!

Romans 3:21-26

From Curse to BlessingGenesis 3:15Slide9

Romans 3:21-26 (NASB)21  But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,

22

even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction;

23

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24  being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; Slide10

25  whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;

26

for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.Slide11

having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

15  When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.Slide13

Revelation 12:11 (NASB)11  And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. Slide17

First and Second AdamAdam as a “pattern” or “figure” of Christ – Romans 5:14; 1 Corinthians 15.

From Curse to Blessing

Genesis 3:15Slide18

Romans 5:14 (NASB)14  Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.Slide19

First and Second AdamAdam as a “pattern” or “figure” of Christ – Romans 5:14; 1 Corinthians 15

There is a covenant with Christ – Hebrews 12:22-24.

From Curse to Blessing

Genesis 3:15Slide20

Hebrews 12:22-24 (NASB)22  But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, 23

to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of

the righteous made perfect, 24

and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than

the blood of Abel.Slide21

First and Second AdamAdam as a “pattern” or “figure” of Christ – Romans 5:14; 1 Corinthians 15

There is a covenant with Christ – Hebrews 12:22-24.

Therefore, there is a covenant with Adam..From Curse to Blessing

Genesis 3:15Slide22

First and Second AdamWhat Adam did!Adam cast reproach on God’s

love – as if God were withholding something good from him.

Adam cast reproach on God’s

truth – God taught that blessing was by way of obedience.Adam cast reproach on God’s

majesty

– by throwing off God’s authority.

From Curse to Blessing

Genesis 3:15Slide23

First and Second AdamWhat was the result of Adam’s disobedience?Died spiritually – hid

Died physically – returned to dust of earth

Died in personality – blame shift

Sin and death are imputed or passed on to us – Romans 5:12-19.

From Curse to Blessing

Genesis 3:15Slide24

Romans 5:12-19 (NASB)12  Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned— 13

for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

14  Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

15

But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. Slide25

16 The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose

from one

transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification.

17

For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.Slide26

18  So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. 19  For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. Slide27

First and Second AdamThe grace of the Second Adam is greater than the inheritance from the First Adam.

In respect to time

The power of death is broken.Grace affects a greater number of people.

Grace affects a greater territory.

The victory of Jesus exceeds the work of Adam.

From Curse to Blessing

Genesis 3:15Slide28

Abounding GraceBelievers have the life of God in them – Colossians 1:25-27; Galatians 2:20.

Colossians 1:25-27 (NASB)25  Of this church

I was made a minister according to the stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, so that I might fully carry out the

Galatians 2:20 (NASB)20  I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life
